Description

Shorewood Recreation & Community Services (a department of the Shorewood School District) is seeking a responsible, experienced, and highly motivated Co-Head Lifeguard to help lead our lifeguard team and ensure a safe, positive, and welcoming aquatic environment for all patrons. This position involves both supervisory responsibilities and active lifeguarding. The Co-Head Lifeguard will oversee daily operations, mentor and support lifeguard staff, assist with training, enforce safety protocols, and serve as a positive role model for the team.

Shorewood Recreation offers certification opportunities for qualified staff, including lifeguard certification and other required aquatic certifications, as applicable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and support the lifeguard team to ensure proper coverage and adherence to safety standards.
  • Enforce facility rules and policies to maintain a safe environment.
  • Assist in planning and conducting in-service training and emergency drills.
  • Assist with training and mentoring new and existing lifeguard staff.
  • Perform daily pool checks, including water testing and facility inspections.
  • Complete reports and incident documentation as needed.
  • Ensure equipment is in good working condition and report maintenance issues.
  • Maintain required certifications and stay current on all required training.
  • Provide leadership and direction during emergency situations.
  • Communicate effectively with the Aquatics Director, Pool Manager, staff, participants, and families.
  • Assist with daily aquatic programming and operations as needed.

Required Commitment:

  • A minimum of 2-3 active lifeguard (LG) shifts per week, in addition to supervisory or administrative duties.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, weekends, and additional shifts as needed based on programming.
  • Commitment to supporting a safe, professional, and positive team environment.
