    ETC in Madison is looking for a CNC Turret Punch Set-Up Operator to join our 1st Shift Metal Shop team. Enjoy a schedule designed for work-life balance: Monday–Thursday, 6:00 am–3:00 pm and Fridays, 6:00 am–10:00 am. That means your weekend starts before lunchtime on Friday.

    We are seeking someone with strong mechanical aptitude, experience or familiarity with CNC controls, and the ability to read and interpret blueprints. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, communicates effectively, and is eager to learn, grow, and expand their skills in a hands-on manufacturing environment.

    Representative Responsibilities:
    • Manufactures parts to the standards and specifications set by the department
    • Sets up and operates punch machine and prepares work area
    • Follows procedures and selects tools and materials
    • Shakes out parts from sheets of metal
    • Ensures work orders are completed
    • Maintains expected productivity output levels and completes assignments as scheduled
    • Ensures machines are running at full capacity for each job
    • Completes paperwork correctly, labels parts per work order and forwards the products to the next station
    • Accounts for time and work completed via labor reporting
    • Ensures products quality meets standards
    • Builds parts to quality standards within specified tolerance as reflected on print
    • Ensures proper tooling is used for the application
    • Follows ISO procedures
    • Uses appropriate documentation, e.g. ECRs, and NCMRs, to identify and communicate issues
    • Completes machine maintenance in a timely manner
    • Completes scheduled maintenance
    • Reports all identified problems to the team leader or manager
    • Maintains tools regularly and informs team lead or manager of tooling needs
    • Adheres to safety standards at all times
    • Ensures that safe methods and practices are used
    • Abides by safety procedures, work practice controls, and OSHA guidelines
    • Wears personal protective equipment as required
    • Identifies and reports safety issues to management
    • Learns new tasks and procedures as needed
    • Listens to, understands and follow instructions while learning new assignments
    • Recognizes unusual circumstances and asks intelligent questions when necessary
    • Maintains a clean and organized work environment
    • Ensures after task is completed, floor is swept and tools are returned to designated area
    • Performs other duties as assigned
    • Completes special projects and requests in a timely and positive fashion

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience
    • Metal Fabrication Technical Diploma or 1-2 years of previous work experience with metal shop equipment preferred
    • 6 -12 months of similar experience setting up and maintaining metal shop equipment preferred
    • Knowledge of various metal shop machines
    • Mechanical Aptitude
    • Good math skills
    • Good organizational skills
    • CNC (Computer Numerical Control) skills
    • Able to read blueprints
    • Able to read measuring devices
    • Basic English skills to understand quality, safety, work instructions, personnel information, and complete departmental paperwork
    • Proven ability to understand and follow directions
    • Able to work independently and as part of a team
    • Able to stand for long periods of time
    • Able to lift up to 50 pounds
