A industry leading precision manufacturing company in Agawam, MA is seeking an experienced CNC Swiss Setup Operator III. This position is ideal for an advanced machinist with extensive experience setting up, programming, operating, and troubleshooting Swiss-style CNC turning equipment.

The CNC Swiss Setup Operator III will produce complex, high-precision components while helping improve machining processes and supporting less-experienced operators.

Job Details

Key Responsibilities

Set up and operate CNC Swiss machines for production runs
Select and install tooling, load materials, and secure workpieces
Interpret engineering drawings, models, specifications, and tolerances
Develop and modify CNC programs using G-code, M-code, CAM software, or manual programming
Perform test runs, trial cuts, and first-piece inspections
Use precision measuring instruments to verify dimensional accuracy
Monitor machining processes and make necessary offsets and adjustments
Troubleshoot complex setup, tooling, programming, and machining issues
Optimize programs, toolpaths, cycle times, and overall machine performance
Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams on process improvements
Train and mentor junior CNC operators on Swiss machining practices
Perform routine machine maintenance, including cleaning, lubrication, and replacement of worn components
Follow all company safety procedures and quality standards

Preferred Qualifications

Five or more years of CNC Swiss setup and operating experience
Strong knowledge of Swiss-style CNC turning platforms
Proficiency with G-code and M-code programming
Experience with CAM software such as Esprit or PartMaker is preferred
Advanced understanding of machining processes, tooling, materials, and tight tolerances
Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and technical specifications
Experience troubleshooting machining problems and optimizing CNC programs
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality parts
Ability to communicate effectively and mentor less-experienced machinists
Two-year technical certification or equivalent hands-on experience preferred
