    Description

    The responsibilities and duties of the programmer are listed below. As Reliable Equipment Manufacturing Company grows and transforms, responsibilities and duties of the programmer may also grow and/or transform.

    • Establish, design, maintain and improve machining and work procedures for machining existing and new products; utilizing a variety of 2 axis lathes, live tools lathes and other metalworking machines and equipment, designing workholding (custom lathe jaws and collets and ejectors), operator instructions (man readable instructions), and programming in a CAM software environment (Autodesk Partmaker).
    • Work with the Senior programmer in the design and improvement of CNC programs for machining operations to minimize costs and time, deliberately seeking the most efficient processes, to meet manufacturing schedules and demand.
    • Work with an established data system to regulate the storage and cataloging of programs so that they are safely stored (uncorrupted) and discoverable for operators to quickly find the latest approved/proven programs for the parts that they are running. Additionally, work with existing cutting tool storage systems to make sure the tooling needed is available.
    • Ensure that programs and processes function properly to allow for smooth efficient production runs, while collaborating with the quality, production, and engineering departments to increase production success and production through.
    • Support the lathe department by guiding and helping the operators and machinists on the shop floor, providing them with the proper programming and tooling knowledge to help them be independent problem solvers.
    • Coordinate directly with the Plant Manager and Engineering Manager to properly schedule projects and programming workflow based on manufacturing demands, new product design, and machine utilizations.

    Qualifications

    The qualifications required of the CNC Lathe programmer are listed below. Assessment of qualifications is not limited to the following requirements.

    • Education level

    High school vo-tech focus

    MFG trade school or related technological education (degree in MFG engineering preferred)

    • Experience

    7 years+ of Mill turn lathe machining.

    5 years + Programming 2 and multi axis lathes.

    5 years + proficiently setting up and running 2 and multi axis lathes.

    • Specific skills

    Strong communication skills

    Strength in organization and planning

    Programming in NC Code/ CAM package (PartMaker preferred)

    Strong sense in MFG design and work-holding

    Thorough understanding of machine tooling and utilization

    Basic knowledge of DNC and NC program databases
