Job Duties

• Set up the full production cycle and operate CNC Lathe machines for tasks such as turning, drilling, bar feeding, and live tooling.
• Manage day-to-day operations of the department, ensuring efficient workflow, adherence to safety protocols, and compliance with time-keeping and performance management procedures.
• Oversee employee performance, provide coaching and feedback, and conduct performance evaluations to support team development and productivity.
• Assist with onboarding and training of new employees, as well as provide ongoing education and skill development for the team.
• Expedite and prioritize shop orders through the department to meet production schedules and customer requirements.
• Collaborate with management and other departments to ensure smooth manufacturing, fabrication, and assembly processes.
• Ensure the team maintains machines and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized manner, addressing safety concerns promptly.
• Identify and implement opportunities for operational efficiencies and continuous improvement in manufacturing processes.
• Address and resolve production or personnel issues promptly to avoid disruptions to operations.
• Ensure adherence to company policies, quality standards, and industry regulations.

Education Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree, technical training, manufacturing coursework, or leadership development training is preferred.

Experience Requirements

• Experience working in a manufacturing, warehouse, production, or related industrial environment.
• Experience leading employees, coordinating production activities, or providing day-to-day direction to a production team.
• Knowledge of production processes, workplace safety, quality standards, and productivity expectations.
• Strong communication, organizational, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to use basic computer systems, production tracking software, reports, and operational documentation.
• Ability to lead by example, hold team members accountable, and respond effectively to changing production priorities.
• Minimum of 5 years of supervisory or management experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience in CNC programming, CNC operation, and machining, with the ability to read and interpret blueprints.

Preferred Qualifications

• Two or more years of manufacturing, warehouse, or production experience is preferred.
• Previous supervisory, team lead, shift lead, or production leadership experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience with Lean manufacturing, 5S, continuous improvement, production metrics, scheduling, or quality systems is beneficial.
• Experience coordinating with maintenance, quality, warehouse, engineering, or other operational departments is considered an asset.
• Individuals who are dependable, proactive, solutions-oriented, and able to motivate a diverse production team are well positioned for success as a CNC Shop Supervisor.

Physical Capabilities

• Ability to stand and walk throughout production areas for extended periods during the shift.
• Ability to bend, reach, climb stairs, and move throughout manufacturing or warehouse environments as required.
• Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to safely work around production machinery, material handling equipment, noise, and other conditions common to manufacturing environments.
• Ability to remain active on the production floor while monitoring employees, equipment, safety, quality, and workflow.

What You Will Do

As a CNC Shop Supervisor you will lead daily production operations, assign work, coordinate staffing, monitor workflow, coach employees, and keep the shift moving without cutting corners on safety or quality. You will track production goals and performance, lead pre-shift meetings, troubleshoot operational problems, coordinate with maintenance, quality, warehouse, and leadership teams, maintain production records and shift reports, support employee training, and create a respectful workplace built around teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

CNC Operation: Set up full production cycle and operate CNC Lathe machines for tasks such as turning, drilling, bar feeding, and live tooling. (Hyundai, Mori, Yugi, HAAS) Department Oversight: Manage day-to-day operations of the department, ensuring efficient workflow, adherence to safety protocols, and compliance with time-keeping and performance management procedures. Employee Management: Oversee employee performance, provide coaching and feedback, and conduct performance evaluations to support team development and productivity. Training & Development: Assist with onboarding and training of new employees, as well as provide ongoing education and skill development for the team. Order Management: Expedite and prioritize shop orders through the department to meet production schedules and customer requirements. Cross-Department Coordination: Collaborate with management and other departments to ensure smooth manufacturing, fabrication, and assembly processes. Workplace Safety & Maintenance: Ensure the team maintains machines and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized manner, addressing safety concerns promptly. Process Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities for operational efficiencies and continuous improvement in manufacturing processes. Problem-Solving: Address and resolve production or personnel issues promptly to avoid disruptions to operations. Compliance: Ensure adherence to company policies, quality standards, and industry regulations.

A CNC Shop Supervisor helps turn production data into action. Output, downtime, quality results, staffing levels, scrap, safety observations, and other performance measures provide information that experienced supervisors use to understand what is happening on the floor.

The CNC Shop Supervisor tracks the numbers, documents shift performance, identifies trends, and uses that information to improve workflow and make better operational decisions.
