    CNC Press Brake Setup Specialist

    Department: General Production
    Reports To: Shift Supervisor

    A day in this role

    Your shift starts with a walk-through: you review prints, confirm work orders, and choose the best forming approach for each sheet metal part. You dial in the CNC press brake, validate tooling and offsets, and make the first piece to spec. Throughout the day you keep production flowing—running parts to the schedule, partnering with teammates who need setup assistance, and stepping onto other production machines when needed. You flag maintenance issues early for your supervisor, keep your space orderly, and document your work within our ISO 9001 quality framework—all while following our Health and Safety Program and OSHA PPE requirements.

    Core responsibilities

    • Interpret and execute work instructions, prints, and work orders for each job.
    • Set up CNC press brakes to meet job requirements and part specifications.
    • Operate press brakes to run production efficiently and safely.
    • Assist teammates with setups and operational questions as needed.
    • Operate additional production equipment when required.
    • Maximize throughput of quality sheet metal parts in line with the production schedule.
    • Evaluate and recommend improvements to fabrication methods that elevate quality and profitability.
    • Identify and communicate maintenance concerns as they arise.
    • Provide timely information to other departments to keep projects on track.
    • Comply with all elements of the Health and Safety Program and wear required PPE.
    • Complete projects within the framework of the ISO 9001 Quality System.
    • Consistently demonstrate a professional demeanor.

    Work practices and expectations

    • Regular, punctual attendance.
    • Use of OSHA-required PPE in accordance with the company Health and Safety Program.
    • Maintain clean, well-organized work areas.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

    Qualifications

    • Clear verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong problem-solving ability.
    • Basic computer proficiency and the ability to use software to maintain production records.
    • Ability to read drawings—materials, part specs, tolerances, notes, symbols, and multiple views—after completing training.
    • Recognize sheet metal types, gauges, sheet sizes, and finishes.
    • Use measuring instruments (e.g., digital calipers, protractors) after completing training.
    • Prior experience setting up and operating press brakes.
    • Working knowledge of sheet metal types and gauges.
