Position Overview
Stand-By Personnel is seeking an experienced CNC Press Brake Operator to join a precision sheet metal manufacturing operation in Claremore. This position is responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC hydraulic and electric press brakes to bend, form, and shape precision sheet metal and plate components for aerospace, defense, and industrial applications.
The ideal candidate has previous CNC press brake setup experience, can independently select and install tooling, understands bend allowances and deductions, and is comfortable working from engineering drawings and flat patterns while maintaining tight dimensional tolerances.
Required Experience & Skills
Minimum 1 year of CNC press brake setup and operation experience
Experience in precision sheet metal, aerospace, or similar manufacturing preferred
Ability to set up and operate multi-axis CNC press brakes
Strong blueprint and engineering drawing interpretation skills
Ability to read and understand flat-pattern drawings
Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
Ability to calculate bend deductions and bend allowances
Experience selecting appropriate punch and die tooling
Proficiency with precision measuring equipment
Strong attention to detail and dimensional accuracy
High school diploma or equivalent required
Dependable attendance and strong commitment to workplace safety
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Set up, program, and operate CNC press brake equipment
Form precision sheet metal and plate components according to job specifications
Review job orders, engineering drawings, and shop travelers before beginning work
Determine proper bending sequences
Select appropriate punch and die combinations
Install and align press brake tooling
Perform tooling changes based on material and production requirements
Set machine parameters according to material thickness, bend radius, and required angle
Make back-gauge and ram adjustments as necessary
Perform first-piece inspections before beginning production runs
Monitor dimensional accuracy throughout production
Identify and correct forming or dimensional issues
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
Follow all company production, quality, and safety procedures
CNC Press Brake Setup & Operation
Candidates should be comfortable performing:
CNC press brake programming
Multi-axis machine setup
Punch and die selection
Tooling installation and alignment
Bend sequencing
Back-gauge adjustments
Ram offsets
Bend-angle corrections
First-piece setup and verification
In-process machine adjustments
Experience with equipment such as Amada, Trumpf, Cincinnati, or similar CNC press brakes is highly valuable.
Tooling & Forming Responsibilities
Select standard and custom punch and die sets
Determine appropriate tooling based on material thickness
Account for required bend radii and angles
Calculate bend deductions and allowances
Install, align, and change tooling safely
Verify tooling condition before production
Make adjustments to maintain required dimensions and tolerances
Blueprint & Technical Drawing Responsibilities
Read and interpret engineering drawings
Review flat patterns and fabrication documentation
Follow shop travelers and job routings
Determine required bend sequences
Identify dimensions and tolerances
Apply GD&T requirements where applicable
Verify formed components against customer and engineering specifications
Quality & Precision Inspection
Operators are responsible for completing first-piece and in-process inspections using equipment such as:
Dial calipers
Digital calipers
Height gauges and height stands
Digital protractors
Radius gauges
Other precision measuring equipment
Candidates must be able to identify dimensional discrepancies and make appropriate machine adjustments to maintain tight tolerances.
Materials
Operators may form and handle a variety of materials, including:
Aluminum
Stainless steel
Titanium
Carbon steel
Other precision sheet and plate materials
Proper handling is essential to prevent material damage and maintain aerospace, defense, and industrial quality requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Aerospace sheet metal fabrication experience
Defense manufacturing experience
Advanced CNC press brake setup experience
Amada press brake experience
Trumpf press brake experience
Cincinnati press brake experience
Strong GD&T knowledge
Experience calculating bend allowances and deductions
Tight-tolerance sheet metal forming experience
Trade school training in sheet metal fabrication or a related field
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for up to 10 hours per day
Ability to independently lift and move up to 50 lbs
Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, lifting, carrying, and positioning
Ability to safely handle sheet metal and plate components
Manual dexterity required for tooling setup and precision measurement
Ability to safely operate press brake equipment while wearing required PPE
Comfortable performing physically active manufacturing work throughout the shift
