Position Overview

PSG is hiring experienced CNC operators for second-shift opportunities at our Melrose Park facility. Available positions include a Milling Operator and a CNC Lathe Set-Up Operator.

These positions are responsible for setting up and operating machining equipment to manufacture precision components from blueprints, work instructions, and technical specifications. Applicants should identify which position best matches their experience.

Opening 1: Milling Operator

Experience: 2–6 years

Shift: Second shift

Pay: $24.00–$27.50 per hour

Night-Shift Premium: 10%

A higher rate may be considered based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic setups and operate milling machines.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and technical specifications.
  • Select and install cutting tools, fixtures, and workpieces.
  • Establish and verify basic tool offsets, work coordinates, speeds, and feeds.
  • Secure materials using appropriate workholding methods.
  • Perform first-piece and in-process inspections.
  • Monitor machining operations and make routine adjustments.
  • Identify tooling, setup, dimensional, or equipment-related concerns.
  • Complete production and quality documentation.
  • Follow all company safety, quality, and operating procedures.

Qualifications

  • Two to six years of milling-machine operating experience.
  • Basic milling-machine setup skills.
  • Ability to read blueprints and technical specifications.
  • Knowledge of shop math, cutting tools, workholding, speeds, and feeds.
  • Experience using micrometers, calipers, indicators, and other measuring instruments.
  • CNC milling experience is preferred.

Opening 2: CNC Lathe Set-Up Operator

Experience: 5+ years

Shift: Second shift

Pay: $28.00–$32.00 per hour

Night-Shift Premium: 10%

A higher rate may be considered based on the candidate’s experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Independently set up and operate CNC lathes.
  • Read and interpret complex blueprints, GD&T requirements, and technical specifications.
  • Determine machining sequences, tooling, workholding, speeds, and feeds.
  • Install and align cutting tools, fixtures, jaws, and workpieces.
  • Establish tool offsets, work coordinates, and machine reference points.
  • Review, edit, and troubleshoot CNC programs.
  • Perform first-piece and in-process inspections.
  • Monitor machining operations and make adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy.
  • Troubleshoot programming, tooling, setup, dimensional, and equipment-related issues.
  • Complete production and quality documentation.
  • Follow all safety, quality, and operating procedures.

Qualifications

  • At least five years of CNC lathe setup and operating experience.
  • Ability to independently complete setups and produce parts from blueprints.
  • Strong blueprint-reading, shop-math, and GD&T skills.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments.
  • Strong understanding of tooling, workholding, speeds, feeds, and machining practices.
  • G-code, Mastercam, or DMG conversational programming experience is desired.
  • Turn-mill machining experience is a plus.
