CNC Milling Setup and Production Specialist
Position Type: Full-Time
A Day in the Life
You arrive for third shift, review the job travelers, and load the first fixture of the night. You verify the program, check your offsets, and run a first-article part. With micrometers and calipers in hand, you confirm every dimension hits print. As production ramps, you watch spindle load, listen for tool wear, and make smart adjustments to keep parts on-spec and scrap to a minimum. Between runs, you handle changeovers, update documentation, and keep your cell clean, orderly, and safe.
What You’ll Do
- Set up and run CNC milling equipment to produce precision parts from engineering drawings and documented requirements.
- Execute machine changeovers, perform tooling swaps, and adjust work and tool offsets as needed.
- Read and interpret blueprints, setup sheets, and technical specs to determine the right process path.
- Inspect parts with precision instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges) and record results per procedure.
- Continuously monitor machining operations for dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and throughput.
- Troubleshoot issues such as chatter, tool wear, and dimensional drift; implement corrective actions.
- Fine-tune feeds, speeds, and wear offsets to maintain quality and consistency across production runs.
- Maintain accurate production and inspection documentation.
- Follow safety protocols, standard work, and quality standards at all times.
- Keep the work area organized, clean, and compliant with 5S principles.
