Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced CNC Mill Operator to join our team in Owasso, OK. This position is responsible for independently setting up and operating Okuma 460V and MU5000 CNC mills in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate has strong setup skills, precision machining experience, and the ability to adapt quickly to frequent part changeovers while maintaining exceptional quality standards.
Required Experience & Skills
2 5+ years of hands-on experience with Okuma 460V and/or MU5000 CNC mills
Ability to independently perform machine setups with minimal supervision
Experience in high-mix, low-volume or prototype machining environments
Strong blueprint reading skills, including GD&T interpretation
Proficient with tool selection, fixture setup, and work offset calibration
Familiarity with G-code and editing programs at the machine using Okuma controls
Strong understanding of feeds, speeds, tooling, and material behavior
High school diploma or GED required;machining certificate preferred
Reliable attendance and strong work ethic REQUIRED
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Set up and operate Okuma 460V and MU5000 CNC milling machines for precision machining operations
Load stock, install fixtures and tooling, establish tool lengths, and set work offsets
Perform frequent machine setups independently while maintaining production efficiency
Edit G-code at the machine to optimize machining operations when necessary
Inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other precision measuring equipment
Perform in-process inspections and accurately document quality results
Maintain compliance with quality standards and production specifications
Collaborate with programmers and engineers to resolve machining or setup challenges
Maintain a clean, organized work area following 5S and company safety standards
Follow all company policies and PPE requirements
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with Okuma 460V and MU5000 machining centers
Familiarity with ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality systems
Aerospace, defense, or medical manufacturing experience
Knowledge of SPC, ERP job tracking systems, and setup reduction techniques
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed
Frequent standing, walking, bending, and operation of CNC equipment throughout the shift
Ability to perform repetitive machining and inspection tasks with precision
Comfortable working around industrial machinery and production equipment
Work Environment
Precision machining and manufacturing environment
High-mix, low-volume production with frequent setup changes
Exposure to machine tools, cutting fluids, metal chips, and production noise
PPE required while working on the production floor
