Position Overview
Stand-By Personnel is seeking an experienced CNC Mill Operator / Machinist to join a precision manufacturing operation in West Tulsa. This position is responsible for operating and maintaining 3-axis vertical CNC milling machines, performing machine setups, establishing tool heights and work offsets, and ensuring finished components meet required dimensions and specifications.
The ideal candidate has at least 2 years of CNC mill experience, is proficient with Fanuc controls, understands GD&T, and can confidently perform machine setups and precision measurements in a fast-paced machining environment.
Required Experience & Skills
Minimum 2 years of CNC mill operating experience required
Experience with 3-axis vertical CNC mills
Proficiency with Fanuc controls
Ability to set tool heights and work offsets accurately
Strong understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
Experience using edge finders and precision measuring equipment
Strong mechanical aptitude and machining knowledge
Ability to perform dimensional and quality checks
Strong attention to detail and commitment to precision
Dependable attendance and strong work ethic
Ability to work independently and as part of a machining team
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Set up and operate 3-axis vertical CNC milling machines
Use Fanuc controls to execute machining operations
Load and position materials and workpieces for machining
Set tool heights accurately before production
Establish and verify work offsets
Use edge finders to locate workpieces and establish reference points
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and machining specifications
Apply GD&T requirements throughout the machining and inspection process
Monitor CNC equipment during production runs
Make appropriate machine adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy
Inspect finished components against required specifications
Identify machining, tooling, or quality concerns and communicate issues appropriately
Maintain clean and organized machines and work areas
Follow all company safety, machining, and quality procedures
Perform additional CNC machining duties as assigned
Machine Setup Responsibilities
Candidates should be comfortable independently performing or assisting with:
Tool height setup
Work offsets
Edge finding
Workpiece positioning
Tooling setup
Machine adjustments
Dimensional verification
Fanuc control operation
3-axis vertical milling
Blueprint & GD&T Responsibilities
Read and interpret machining blueprints and technical drawings
Identify required dimensions and tolerances
Apply GD&T principles to machined components
Verify completed parts meet specified tolerances
Use appropriate measuring equipment to inspect finished work
Identify dimensional discrepancies before parts move to the next production stage
Preferred Qualifications
More than 2 years of CNC machining experience
Advanced Fanuc control experience
CNC machine setup experience
Previous precision manufacturing experience
Strong GD&T knowledge
Experience machining tight-tolerance components
Advanced blueprint interpretation skills
Experience troubleshooting machining or tooling issues
Familiarity with additional precision measuring equipment
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and move 40+ lbs
Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift
Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, positioning, and material handling
Manual dexterity required for machine setup, tooling, and measurement
Ability to safely handle machined components and raw materials
Comfortable working around CNC machinery, tooling, metal chips, and industrial equipment
Ability to safely perform assigned work while wearing required PPE
Work Environment
Precision machining and CNC manufacturing environment
Regular operation of 3-axis vertical mills with Fanuc controls
Hands-on work involving machine setup, tooling, measuring equipment, and machined components
