Position Overview

Stand-By Personnel is seeking an experienced CNC Mill Machinist to join a precision manufacturing operation in Tulsa. This position is responsible for independently programming, setting up, and operating CNC milling machines to produce precision components according to blueprints and production specifications.

The ideal candidate has previous CNC milling experience, can program and set up CNC mills independently, and is comfortable maintaining tight tolerances using calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring equipment. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Machinist who can take ownership of the machining process from setup through final inspection.

Required Experience & Skills

• Previous CNC mill machining experience required
• Ability to program CNC milling machines independently
• Strong CNC machine setup and operating skills
• Experience performing tooling changes and machine adjustments
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions
• Strong understanding of machining processes and tooling
• Experience maintaining tight dimensional tolerances
• Proficiency with calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring equipment
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Reliable attendance and positive work ethic
• Ability to work independently and as part of a machining team

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Program CNC milling machines according to part and production requirements
• Set up and operate CNC mills independently
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions
• Select appropriate tooling for assigned machining operations
• Install and change cutting tools as required
• Establish machine setups and make necessary adjustments
• Load and position raw materials and workpieces
• Monitor machine operations throughout production runs
• Make program, tooling, or machine adjustments when required
• Troubleshoot machining issues and determine appropriate corrective actions
• Maintain dimensional accuracy throughout production
• Inspect completed components against required specifications
• Identify and correct machining or quality concerns
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
• Follow all company machining, quality, and safety procedures
• Perform additional CNC machining duties as assigned

CNC Programming & Setup

Candidates must be capable of independently performing CNC milling responsibilities including:

• CNC programming
• Machine setup
• Tool selection
• Tool changes
• Machine adjustments
• Workpiece setup and positioning
• Program adjustments
• Machining troubleshooting
• Dimensional verification

This is not strictly a machine operator position. Candidates should have the experience necessary to program and set up CNC mills independently.

Blueprint & Quality Responsibilities

• Read and interpret machining blueprints and drawings
• Identify required dimensions and tolerances
• Verify completed components meet production specifications
• Inspect parts throughout the machining process
• Identify dimensional discrepancies before parts move to the next production stage
• Maintain consistent quality while meeting production requirements
• Document or communicate machining and quality concerns as required

Precision Measuring Equipment

Candidates should be proficient with:

• Calipers
• Micrometers
• Other precision measuring instruments
• Basic shop measuring equipment

Accurate measurement and the ability to maintain tight tolerances are essential for this position.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced CNC mill programming experience
• CNC setup experience
• Precision machining experience
• Experience machining tight-tolerance components
• Strong blueprint interpretation skills
• Advanced tooling knowledge
• Experience making program edits and adjustments
• Strong machining troubleshooting skills
• Previous work in a precision manufacturing or machine shop environment

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift
• Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, positioning, and material handling
• Manual dexterity required for tooling, machine setup, and precision measurement
• Ability to safely handle raw materials and machined components
• Comfortable working around CNC machinery, tooling, metal chips, and industrial equipment
• Ability to perform required lifting and physical machining duties throughout the shift
• Ability to safely perform assigned work while wearing required PPE

Work Environment

• Precision machining and CNC manufacturing environment
• Regular operation, setup, and programming of CNC milling equipment
• Hands-on work involving machine controls, tooling, raw materials, blueprints, and measuring equipment
• Precision-driven environment requiring consistent dimensional accuracy and quality
• Strong emphasis on safety, productivity, independent troubleshooting, and quality workmanship
• Stable Monday–Friday daytime schedule
