Summary:
A precision machining and toolmaking manufacturer is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist with strong setup, operation, and program‑editing capabilities. This position requires hands‑on expertise with CNC mills, CAM program editing (Mastercam or similar), and the ability to work to tight tolerances using a variety of materials.
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Responsibilities:
* Set up, operate, and perform program edits on 3‑axis CNC milling machines, primarily a Milltronics 3‑axis CNC mill.
* Support setup and operation of wire EDM machines (including Manatoya and Fanuc EDM equipment).
* Edit CNC programs using Mastercam or similar CAM software to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
* Perform machining operations on materials such as 4140 steel, A2 tool steel, aluminum, and stainless steel.
* Hold and maintain tight tolerances ranging from ±0.005" to ±0.030", with a daily average of ±0.005".
* Interpret and work directly from complex blueprints, engineering drawings, and job specifications.
* Use precision measuring instruments-including micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators-to verify part accuracy (must provide own tools).
* Collaborate with toolmakers and engineering staff to support production and prototype work.
* Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas per shop standards.
Qualifications:
* 3-5+ years of CNC machining experience in a production, toolroom, aerospace, or precision machining environment.
* Strong CNC setup and operation skills on 3‑axis milling machines.
* Hands‑on experience making program edits using Mastercam or comparable CAM systems.
* Ability to hold tight tolerances and work with a variety of metals.
* Proficient in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
* Experience using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and indicators
* Must possess a personal set of measuring instruments and basic machine shop tools
* Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and machining drawings (candidates will be tested during the interview).
Preffered:
* Lathe experience
* Surface or cylindrical grinder experience
* Toolmaking background
* Experience in aerospace machining or high‑precision industries
* Experience operating and supporting setups on wire EDM machines (Fanuc, Manatoya, or similar)
