CNC Machinist

Responsibilities:

·       3, 4 and 5 Axis setup tooling, in process basic inspection, finishing to completion to inspected parts.

·       Plan machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, and material

specifications

·       Maintains part specifications by adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes

·       Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements specified by the

manufacturer’s instructions.

·       Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership and exploring opportunities to

add value to the team

Required Skills/Experience:

·       Minimum of 5+ years CNC machining experience or equivalent

·       Tooling speeds and feeds selection responsibility

·       3, 4 and 5 axis CNC operation

·       Utilization of GD&T standard

·       Interpersonal skills required to work with others from various disciplines and cultures.

·       Strong organizational skills to communicate technical data to colleagues and leadership

·       Must be willing and able to work, day shifts and afternoon shifts as required to meet demands and work with a sense of urgency.

·       Strong level of analytical thinking

·       The successful candidate will have to successfully pass a driver’s abstract and background

Preferred Skills/Experience:

·       Experience with both horizontal and vertical CNC machines

·       CNC lathe programming and operation experience with SURFCAM and MASTERCAM

Fanuc, Haas, Hurco, Fadal and Siemens controller experience will be a plus

Business Group

·       The Performance and Race Center is dedicated to producing race winning engines for Cadillac Racing and Corvette Racing. Our team machines several components for both programs in house alongside other teams who manufacture and test engines all in house.

·       The candidate Support Cadillac and Corvette racing, LMDP and GT3 program, manufacture machine parts for the race engines, another team does the engine assembly, they do all dyno testing in house

Daily Breakdown

·       Team size – 13 people, 7 of those people are CNC machinists

·       They have weekly group meetings

·       Interact with the scheduler to get their next job and what needs to be completed as a priority

·       Working on various machines – CNC machines (3, 4 and 5 axis CNC operation, lathes, manual mills)

·       Interact with the quality department, engine build team

·       Not looking to micromanage someone

Candidate Requirements

·       Education: High School Diploma required

·       Years of experience: Minimum of 5+ years CNC machining experience or equivalent

·       **need someone who can hit the ground running with a CNC machine – this is not an entry level position**

·       Ability to work with others is huge for this position, they must be a team player, keeping a clean organized environment

Top 3 Must Have Skills

·       5+ years of CNC machining experience

·       Experience doing their own programming through SURFCAM or MASTERCAM

·       Skills with GD&T or blueprint reading

Shift / Hours

·       1st shift

·       Onsite – no remote

·       Flexible on the working hours, want to promote work life balance:

o  5:00AM – 2:00PM

o  6:00AM – 3:00PM

Travel

·       Less than 5% travel required -trips would be for offsite training that they want them to attend (MasterCAM training, new programming training)

·       Location – Local to Michigan, would not travel out of state
