Description

PGS Worldwide is seeking a CNC Machinist in Lake Charles, Louisiana for a one-year onsite contract-to-hire role supporting a leading aerospace & defense company. This position will set up and operate conventional and CNC machine tools to manufacture precision metal parts to exact tolerances. The Machinist will interpret engineering drawings, determine machining sequences and setups, perform precision measurements, and verify completed work for quality.

Required Skills

  • 6+ years of experience as a machinist.
  • CNC machining experience operating HAAS or Fanuk equipment.
  • Ability to set up and operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, planers, and precision grinders.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications.
  • Experience using machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
  • Ability to perform shop calculations involving dimensions, tooling, feeds, and speeds.
  • Formal machinist apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Must be able to work either 1st or 2nd shift and weekend overtime as required.

What You’ll Do

  • Set up and operate machine tools to manufacture metal parts, mechanisms, tools, and equipment to precise tolerances.
  • Determine machining sequences, required cuts, tooling, and setup methods.
  • Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points for machining operations.
  • Use precision measuring equipment to verify dimensions and tolerances.
  • Fit and assemble precision-machined parts into mechanical equipment.
  • Determine required materials, parts, tooling, and equipment.
  • Operate numerically controlled equipment as applicable.
  • Monitor and verify product quality using statistical process controls or other established quality procedures.

Work Schedule / Shift

  • 4x10 schedule, Monday–Thursday.
  • 1st shift: 6:00 AM–4:42 PM.
  • 2nd shift: 4:00 PM–2:42 AM.
  • Weekend overtime may be required.

Pay

  • $34.21+$5.09 H&W= $39.30 per hour.
  • Service Contract Act (SCA) position.
