CNC Machinist

HiFyve is hiring a CNC Machinist in the Manufacturing industry 

Salary: $20.00 - $35.00 per hour (based on experience) + $1.50/hour shift differential

Shift: 2nd Shift (4:00pm–2:00am), Monday–Thursday, 4-day workweek

Location: Carlinville, IL

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes to produce precision-machined components.

Perform light CNC machine setups, including fixture setup, tool changes, offsets, and machine adjustments.

For highly skilled machinists, program and set up CNC machines from scratch.

Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, travelers, and work instructions.

Verify programs, fixtures, tooling, and machine settings before beginning production.

Load tools, verify offsets, and adjust feeds and speeds to ensure proper machine performance.

Measure, examine, and inspect completed parts using precision instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and indicators.

Maintain tight tolerances, including tolerances as close to ±0.001".

Monitor machines during production and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality and consistency.

Complete jobs according to traveler specifications and production schedules.

Identify and communicate quality issues, machine problems, or production delays to leadership.

Perform daily machine maintenance and keep the work area clean and organized.

Follow all safety policies and procedures consistently.

Assist with training team members and sharing machining knowledge.

Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.

Education Requirements

High School Diploma or GED preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

CNC machining experience in a job-shop or production environment preferred.

Candidates with varying levels of CNC experience will be considered, from operators with light setup experience to highly skilled machinists capable of programming and setting up machines from scratch.

Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions.

Understanding of machining operations, tooling, feeds and speeds, and tolerances.

Ability to use precision measuring equipment, including micrometers, calipers, and indicators.

Ability to write, edit, and troubleshoot G-code preferred for highly skilled positions.

Understanding of basic math and geometric tolerances.

Ability to work independently and take ownership of setups and production quality.

Attention to detail and commitment to producing quality parts.

Ability to communicate issues clearly and work effectively with a small team.

Ability to work the full 10-hour second shift schedule, Monday through Thursday.
