CNC Machinist II

The CNC Machinist operates computer numerical controlmachines tofabricate finished parts to specificationswhile holding tolerances +/- .0005.The CNC Machinist loads parts in the machine, cycle’s machine, and detects malfunctions in machine operations, such as worn or damaged cutting tools.Expertise in setting up the machines, selecting appropriate tooling and optimizing machining processes play a vital role. The position communicates with co-workers regardingproductions runs, and maintains a safe, organized, and clean work environment.

• Must maintain machine cleanliness and area around machine.  

• Performs all assigned machine shop operations.  

• Replacement of worn tools.  

• Start-up of several CNC machines.  

• Positioning and alignment of cutting tools in toolholders on machines.  

• Assist with the build of trim fixtures.  

• Ensure adherence to routed hours and target efficiencies for production.  

• Understand blueprints, layouts or charts, and job orders and how it relates to the specifications and tooling instructions.  

• Selection of cutting tools and tooling instructions.  

• Set cutting speeds,depths and feed rates, and to position tools in relation to workpieces.  

• Refill, change, and monitor the level of fluids, such as oil and coolant, in machines.  

• Install holding fixtures, cams, gears, and stops to control stock and tool movement, using hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments.  

• Proficiency with hoists, fasteners, and hand tools.  

• Proficiency with toolholders manually or by turning handwheels.  

• Complete in process inspection of machined parts using a variety of precision measuring tools such as micrometers, microscopes, fixtures, indicators, and special tools.  

• Other duties assigned. 

Education: 

• 5 to 7 years of experience in a CNC manufacturing facility 

• High school diploma or equivalent education 

 
Skills Required: 

• Comprehension of complex engineering drawings 

• Blueprint, GD&T, measuring equipment 

• Basic Communication 

• Strong shop math 

• High attention to detail and self-motivated 

• Well developed workmanship skills (sanding, filling and deburring etc.) 

Work Environment: 

• Manufacturing floor environments 

• Controlled temperature environments 

Respiratory Protection Requirement: 
Due to chemical exposures associated with the fabrication of trim fixtures, this position requires the use of a full-face respirator. As a condition of employment and per OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134, the selected candidate must: 

• Complete a respirator medical evaluation and be cleared for respirator use 

• Pass an annual respirator fit test 

• Must be able to maintain a proper respirator seal, which requires the sealing surface of the face to be free of facial hair during respirator use

Expected Hours of Work: 

• This is a Full-Time Hourly position required to work Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends.
