Title: CNC Machinist
Location: Winston-Salem, NC – Onsite
Shift:
2nd Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM (Mon–Fri, OT/weekends as needed)
Pay: $23–25/hr + $2/hr shift premium
Hire Type: Contract to Hire
Job Purpose:
CNC Machinist/Cell Lead responsible for setting up, operating, and troubleshooting computer-controlled machining systems and integrated machine cells. Leads production activities while ensuring quality, safety, and output goals are met.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up, operate, and adjust CNC and automated machine cells within takt time
- Read blueprints, work instructions, and standard work documents
- Troubleshoot machine cells and automation issues
- Perform quality inspections and track quality data/trends
- Support RCCA and review machine analytics to improve cycle time
- Lead daily cell priorities and meet production targets
- Drive problem-solving and escalate issues when needed
- Perform rework as required
- Support preventive maintenance (air, oil, minor fixes)
- Operate forklifts, cranes, and material handling equipment
- Lead 5S activities, audits, safety investigations, and standard work compliance
- Cross-train and support operator training
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required
- 2–5 years machining experience + technical certification preferred
- Blueprint reading, geometry/trigonometry skills required
- Strong machining aptitude and problem-solving ability
- Ability to lead in a production environment
- Self-starter comfortable working in high-variation machining conditions
- Must be able to work around industrial machinery, cranes, and forklift traffic
