CNC Machining Specialist — Mill, Lathe & Laser

A day in the life

You clock in, review the day’s blueprint stack, and load the first job on a 3–4 axis VMC. Tool offsets are dialed in, the first cut sings, and you’re checking tolerances with micrometers before the second operation even starts. Mid-morning, you pivot to a 2–4 axis CNC lathe, make a quick program tweak, and keep parts flowing within spec. After lunch, a laser-cut batch needs verification, and a grinder finish brings the last pieces to perfection. Throughout it all, you document, inspect, and keep the cell spotless and safe.

What you will do

  • Run CNC equipment to meet production requirements and part specifications.
  • Set up and monitor mills, lathes, lasers, and grinders for consistent quality.
  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, and work instructions to plan each operation.
  • Verify dimensions using calipers, micrometers, and advanced gauges.
  • Perform routine adjustments and minor corrections to programs and tooling.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workstation.
  • Escalate equipment malfunctions and quality issues promptly to supervision.

What makes you successful here

  • Hands-on experience operating CNC machinery is required.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to read and apply technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Proficiency with precision measurement (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
  • Mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving ability.
  • Accuracy in following measurements, tolerances, and build specifications.
  • Detail orientation, quality focus, and a strong safety mindset.
