CNC Machining Line Operator — Precision Bearings
Location: Petersburg, VA | Brenco Bearing & Amsted Seals Divisions
Pay Range: $18 -$23, +1.00 differential for nights

A day in this role
You will run and care for a CNC machining line producing high-precision ID/OD features on metal components for rail applications. You translate specifications into action, make real-time adjustments, and keep quality, safety, and uptime at the forefront.
What you will do
- Operate and maintain CNC machining lines to perform multiple ID and OD operations on metal workpieces.
- Follow plant-wide safety, ergonomics, and environmental practices defined by the Amsted Rail Health & Safety program; wear required PPE.
- Measure part dimensions per departmental quality plan using gauges and other measurement tools; verify alignment and conformance to specifications.
- Inspect work for defects and ensure parts meet customer and Amsted Rail standards.
- Assist setup personnel during changeovers for different work lines/cells; perform machine and robot/transfer conveyor set-ups.
- Select programs in machine control units and initiate cycles; adjust machine parameters via manual or automatic settings.
- Troubleshoot part compliance and equipment issues; adjust tooling, cutting tools, or controls as needed.
- Listen for abnormal sounds such as dull cutting tools or excessive vibration and correct to maintain quality.
- Monitor transfer conveyors for proper operation and flow.
- Lift and position machine components manually or using hoists/cranes; safely use hand and power tools.
- Operate a forklift to stage and move work bins to internal customers.
- Record production run data in the company computer system and understand operational sequences for finished workpieces.
- Perform preventative maintenance tasks on equipment; complete other duties as requested.
What you bring
- Required: Successfully pass a pre-employment drug & background screening.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull 10–50 lbs; stand and move throughout the department and shift.
- Comfort using PPE and following strict safety/quality procedures.
- Mechanical aptitude; prior industrial manufacturing experience is a plus.
