CNC Machining Cell Loader-Operator
Employer: Atlas Fibre | Location: 3411 Woodhead Dr, Northbrook, IL 60062
Compensation: $20.00–$29.00/hour, based on experience | Schedule: Full-time, In-person, 3rd Shift
A Night in the Life
When the third shift lights up at Atlas Fibre, you’ll be the steady hand that keeps our CNC cells moving. You’ll stage material, load parts, kick off production cycles after setups are complete, and keep a close eye on machines so quality parts emerge on time—every time. Between cycles, you’ll confirm dimensions, document counts, and prepare the next run so production never stalls.
What You’ll Tackle
- Stage, load, and secure raw stock and components into CNC equipment following prints, job travelers, and work instructions.
- Unload finished pieces, clear chips as needed, and ready machines for the next cycle.
- Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and documentation to verify correct materials, dimensions, and orientation.
- Start and observe machine cycles once a proper setup has been completed by designated personnel.
- Verify part positioning and workholding before cycle start; monitor for alarms, unusual sounds, or quality issues and escalate promptly.
- Perform visual checks and, when required, measure using calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Quarantine suspect product and separate nonconforming parts.
- Keep machines fed with material so throughput stays consistent across the shift.
- Record basic production data and part counts accurately.
- Follow documented procedures and safety practices, including FOD control, PPE, machine guarding, and composite-dust protocols.
- Maintain a clean, orderly work area.
What You Bring
- Proven ability to read and comprehend blueprints, technical drawings, and written work instructions.
- Reliability to work 3rd shift on a consistent schedule.
- Comfort following written and verbal direction with strong attention to detail and quality.
- Basic math and the ability to learn or use calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Dependable attendance and time management.
- Self-directed work style suitable for overnight production.
- Stamina to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.
- Capability to lift and move up to 50 lbs safely.
What Success Looks Like
You keep production flowing, spot issues early, communicate quickly, and follow instructions precisely. You take pride in safe habits, accurate measurements, and clean workspaces—so quality parts leave the cell without delay.
