CNC Lathe Operator – Set-Up

The ideal candidate will be responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC and/or manual lathes to produce precision metal parts. This role requires strong attention to detail, knowledge of machining processes, and the ability to interpret technical drawings.

Key Responsibilities:

• Setup & Programming:
  
• • Set up CNC and/or manual lathes according to job specifications.
    
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders.
    
  • Create, edit, and adjust CNC programs as needed for efficient machining.
    
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, and feeds for different materials.
    
• Operation & Quality Control:
  
• • Operate lathes to machine parts within tight tolerances.
    
  • Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other measuring tools.
    
  • Perform routine maintenance on machines to ensure optimal performance.
    
  • Identify and troubleshoot machining or programming issues.
    
• Safety & Efficiency:
  
• • Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean work area.
    
  • Optimize production processes to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
    
  • Work collaboratively with other machinists, engineers, and supervisors to ensure smooth workflow.
    

Requirements

• Experience:
  
• • 2+ years of experience in lathe setup and operation (CNC or manual).
    
  • Experience with G-code programming and conversational programming (preferred).
    
• Skills:
  
• • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T.
    
  • Proficiency with precision measuring tools.
    
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
    
  • Knowledge of different metal materials and machining processes.
    
• Physical Requirements:
  
• • Ability to stand for extended periods.
    
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
