You know your way around a full setup. Bring that experience to PFI.
We’re looking for a skilled CNC Machinist II who can independently take standard production jobs from setup through in-process inspection. If you take pride in precision, enjoy solving machining challenges, and value a team that shares its knowledge, we’d like to hear from you.
In this role, you’ll set up and operate CNC machines, select tooling, make basic program edits, and troubleshoot production issues. You’ll also serve as a technical resource for less experienced machinists and operators.
Benefits That Support You
- Medical, dental, and vision coverage
- Company-paid life and disability coverage, including short-term disability
- 12 paid holidays
- 401(k) retirement plan with a generous company match
- A great PTO plan
- $1,500 sign-on bonus after 90 days
What You’ll Do
- Own your setups: Independently complete fixture changeovers, tool loading, tool touch-offs, work offsets, and machine preparation using approved programs and work instructions.
- Keep production running: Operate CNC equipment, manage setup times and production flow, and support simultaneous operations where applicable.
- Make machining adjustments: Adjust feeds, speeds, offsets, and cutting parameters within established guidelines. Perform basic G-code edits within your training and authorization.
- Work to the print: Interpret complex blueprints, specifications, tolerances, and common GD&T controls and datum requirements.
- Verify quality: Perform in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, indicators, gauges, and other precision instruments. Maintain accurate production and inspection records.
- Solve machining problems: Troubleshoot tooling, fixturing, surface finish, dimensional variation, and common machine issues. Select appropriate tooling for standard work and recommend improvements.
- Respond to concerns: Identify and contain questionable or nonconforming parts, follow reporting procedures, and communicate recurring issues to the appropriate team.
- Share your expertise: Help operators and less experienced machinists with setups, inspection, and troubleshooting.
- Improve the process: Suggest practical improvements to safety, tooling, setup methods, quality, and efficiency while maintaining a clean, organized work area.
What You’ll Bring
- High school diploma or GED required.
- At least three years of CNC machining experience.
- Demonstrated ability to perform full CNC setups and run standard production jobs independently.
- Experience reading complex prints and applying common GD&T requirements.
- Proficiency with in-process inspection and standard precision measuring tools.
- Experience making basic G-code edits at the machine.
- Working knowledge of tooling, fixtures, cutting parameters, and the machining behavior of common and difficult-to-machine materials.
- Strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and accountability for quality and productivity.
