Job Title: CMM Technician / Operator

Department: Quality

Reports To: Quality Manager

FLSA status: Non-Exempt

SUMMARY

Responsible for operating CMM equipment, executing validated inspection programs and supporting production through dimensional inspection.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

• Operate CMM equipment using approved programs.
• Perform first-piece, in-process and final dimensional inspections.
• Set up fixtures and load parts safely.
• Record inspection results and maintain measurement records.
• Perform daily equipment verification and basic preventive maintenance.
• Maintain gauge inventory and calibration records.
• Escalate dimensional concerns to the CMM Programmer or Quality Engineer.
• Support containment, PPAP inspections and engineering trials.
• Comply with IATF 16949, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 requirements.
• Practice and promote safe work practices throughout the plant.
• Promote team concepts and participate in teams.
• Understand and follow Inalfa policies and practices and any other legal requirements.
• Actively participate in achieving and maintaining quality goals and continuous improvement
• Perform other duties assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

CMM Technicians are individual contributors.

IATF16949 RESPONSIBILITIES

The IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 responsibilities listed below are required for this position. Adhere to all IATF16949 (Quality) / ISO14001 (Environmental) / ISO 45001 (Health & Safety) procedures as related to the Quality department function

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

• 2-3 years of CMM equipment operation or dimensional inspection experience preferred.
• 2-3 years of experience in automotive quality preferred.
• Basic GD&T and print reading knowledge
• Experience with PC-DMIS operation preferred
• Experience using calipers, micrometers, height gauges and other inspection equipment
• Basic Microsoft Office skills

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

The employee regularly works in support of the manufacturing facility including the assembly areas, labs and office facilities. This includes working around moving mechanical equipment and is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
