CMM Programmer

The successful candidate will be responsible for programming, operating, and maintaining CMM equipment to ensure accurate measurement and inspection of products while supporting a strong commitment to quality and precision. Ability to verify conformance of machined features using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, swing gauges, and related equipment.

CMM Programmer Description
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) Programmer to join our quality assurance team. The successful candidate will be responsible for programming, operating, and maintaining CMM equipment to ensure accurate measurement and inspection of products while supporting a strong commitment to quality and precision.

The CMM Programmer will create, verify, and maintain CMM programs for use by manufacturing and quality personnel throughout the organization. This position will perform advanced inspection activities including product and material inspection, first-piece inspection, in-process monitoring, and final inspection.

The CMM Programmer will report directly to the Quality Manager regarding quality issues and will work closely with Manufacturing on a daily basis to help meet production schedules and customer requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop, update, and troubleshoot CMM inspection programs for various CMM equipment to determine product conformity.
• Set up and operate CMM equipment to perform precise measurements according to engineering specifications, drawings, and customer requirements.
• Analyze measurement data to identify deviations and communicate findings to Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams.
• Maintain and calibrate CMM equipment to ensure optimal performance and accuracy.
• Collaborate with Design, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to resolve measurement issues and improve inspection processes.
• Work with Quality Engineers and Manufacturing Engineers to determine inspection criteria and appropriate inspection techniques.
• Generate inspection reports and maintain documentation required for quality records and audits.
• Continuously review and improve CMM programming procedures and techniques to increase efficiency and accuracy.
• Ensure compliance with applicable industry standards, company policies, quality procedures, and safety requirements.
• Provide CMM operation and programming instruction as required.
• Verify and document program accuracy using applicable industry standards and inspection methods.
• Use CMM equipment along with conventional and advanced inspection devices and instruments to verify dimensions according to drawing specifications.
• Mentor and provide guidance to other CMM programmers and operators.
• Develop and implement process improvements related to CMM programming and inspection processes.
• Ensure production schedules and customer requirements are consistently met.
• Perform visual and dimensional final inspections of machined components and castings.
• Maintain extensive knowledge of calibrated tooling, inspection equipment, and CMM programming practices.
• Apply knowledge of aerospace inspection requirements and inspection criteria.
• Identify surface, dimensional, visual, material, documentation, and workmanship non-conformities against blueprints and quality standards.
• Immediately report non-conforming materials or unusual conditions to the Quality Manager and/or Manufacturing Lead.
• Perform all responsibilities in accordance with established productivity and quality expectations.
• Follow established work procedures and provide support to achieve short- and long-term department and organizational goals.
• Maintain inspection records, data, and logs as required.
• Create inspection documentation including Inspection Method Sheets, First Article Inspection data, and other related forms.
• Prepare products and related documentation for customer or source inspection.
• Interact directly with customers when required.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Follow all safety and environmental procedures, programs, and regulations.
• Report safety incidents and concerns to management.
• Make and document recommendations for improvements to work processes and procedures.
• Participate in 5S initiatives and continuous improvement activities within the work area.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience operating CMM equipment or equivalent inspection experience.
• Proven experience as a CMM Programmer.
• Proficiency in CMM programming using PC-DMIS.
• Strong mathematical skills and a solid understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC).
• Ability to communicate effectively with team members across Quality, Engineering, and Manufacturing.
• Excellent computer, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Competencies and Skills

• Strong practical understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and blueprints.
• Experience preparing MRB submittal documentation as needed.
• Experience inspecting aerospace parts and assemblies.
• Understanding of quality procedures and documentation within an ISO 9001 and AS9100 regulated environment.
• Strong knowledge of determining the appropriate inspection method for each part or feature being processed or inspected.
• Ability to verify conformance of machined features using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, swing gauges, and related equipment.

Physical Demands
This position requires the ability to bend, lift up to 50 pounds, pull, push, sit, reach, and stand for eight or more hours per day.

Requirements Competencies and Skills

• 3+ years of CMM inspection/programming experience.
• PC-DMIS programming experience.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T and blueprint interpretation.
• Aerospace manufacturing and inspection experience preferred.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality systems.
• Strong understanding of precision measurement equipment.
