    CMM Operator & Quality Inspector

    About the Role

    We are seeking an experienced Quality Inspector & CMM Operator to join our client's manufacturing team. In this role, you will perform first article, in-process, and final inspections to ensure products meet engineering specifications, customer requirements, and quality standards. You will also operate, program, and maintain a Zeiss G2 5-Axis Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) to support production and quality objectives.

    This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a strong background in precision inspection, blueprint reading, GD&T, and aerospace or precision manufacturing environments.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections of manufactured components.
    • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
    • Make accept/reject decisions based on engineering requirements and quality standards.
    • Document inspection results and maintain accurate quality records.
    • Identify, segregate, and document nonconforming materials.
    • Prioritize inspection workload to support production schedules and minimize downtime.
    • Collaborate with production personnel to resolve quality concerns.
    • Operate, program, and maintain a Zeiss G2 5-Axis CMM.
    • Develop and modify CMM inspection programs based on engineering requirements.
    • Ensure CMM equipment remains properly calibrated and operational.
    • Record inspection time and job information using ERP/job tracking software.

    Requirements

    • High school diploma or GED (manufacturing inspection experience may be considered in place of formal education).
    • Minimum 2 years of quality inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.
    • Minimum 2 years of CMM operation and programming experience.
    • Certified CMM Operator/Programmer required.
    • Strong blueprint reading and interpretation skills.
    • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
    • Experience performing layout inspections using standard precision measuring equipment.
    • Familiarity with AS9100 Quality Management Systems.
    • Experience with calibration systems and quality documentation.
    • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

    Preferred

    • Experience operating a Zeiss G2 5-Axis CMM.
    • Knowledge of Calypso programming software.
    • Experience with CATIA Annotation.
    • NDT Level I, II, or III certification (Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection).
    • Certified Weld Inspector (CWI).

    Physical Requirements

    • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance.
    • Ability to stand for extended periods while performing inspections.
    • Ability to work throughout a manufacturing environment.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision measuring equipment.
