Position Overview:
The CMM Technician is expected to perform CMM inspections and quality gage calibrations in a timely manner and will maintain all gages in an operational state, performing gage repair and preventive maintenance as needed.
Schedule: Monday Through Thursday 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM
Pay: $34.50 Per Hour
Responsibilities:
- Works within the Production & Logistics (P&L) Way, reads and follows verbal and standard written work instructions (SWI), position standards, and standard operating procedures.
- Demonstrates role model level P&L Way attitudes & behaviors, core values, and excellent attendance.
- Practices safe work behavior, including the utilization of proper safety equipment and adherence to safety guidelines. Identifies and corrects or escalates potentially unsafe situations/conditions.
- Complies with all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) requirements; reports hazards, environmental risks, and incidents, uses required PPE; operates equipment safety, and helps maintain a safe and environmentally responsible workplace.
- Role model of the 100% mindset and takes full ownership and responsibility of position/station. Understands impact of work to outcomes and production interdependencies.
- Demonstrates advanced level proficiency in the department’s core processes, with the ability to independently execute standard workflows and identify routine issues, escalating more complex problems as needed.
- Meets the required competency or certification standards for workstations, areas and processes per the department skills matrix.
- Executes standard work within takt and demonstrates proper Andon utilization, exhibiting the courage to speak up, identify deviations, and initiate communication without hesitation. Exhibits the “Right from me” behavior.
- Active participant to continuous improvement efforts and problem-solving methods, updates standard work instructions. Identifies improvements as needed.
- Collaborates with engineering on new solutions and new product introductions.
- Maintains strong safety, normal situation, 5S standards, good organization of workspace, and housekeeping.
- Performs routine inspections on products, processes, and materials to ensure work output meets product specifications.
- Can explain issues and targets on the RTM board and take responsibility for countermeasures and actions.
- Keeps Team Lead and Supervisor informed of any issues or challenges.
- Effectively contribute with ideas across functions to enable collaboration
- Monitors computer screens and interprets data to determine that process is running according to control plan.
- Troubleshoots work-related problems and makes repairs on the spot as needed.
- Documents rework and scrap using the non-conforming material procedure.
- Verifies compliance with process instructions and control plans, reports deviations to Team Lead or Supervisor.
- Calibrates CMM and gauges per schedule, maintains GageTrak system.
- Repair & maintain gauges throughout the plant.
- Assure conformance to Navistar Diesel of Alabama and TS-16949 Quality Standards.
- Interpret layout reports to determine machine adjustments.
- Create & verify CMM programs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- At least 2 years of CMM programming experience
- At least 2 years experience in a manufacturing lab environment
Additional Requirements:

- Physical Requirements (Ability to do the following up to 10 hours per shift):

- Repetitive use of hands and fingers
- Use of vibrating tools
- Depth perceptions required
- Exposure to constant and intermittent noise, solvents, grease and oils, and slippery surfaces
- Ability to work different shifts and overtime as needed
- Basic computer skills
Desired Skills:
- Demonstrates ability to execute effective problem solving and root cause analysis
- Knowledge of Adcole, surface finish, Tally Round measuring equipment, and Optical comparator
- Previous machining and gage calibration experience
- Experience with DC tool operation & calibration
- Demonstrates team spirit, 100% mind set, and positive attitude
- Communicates clearly to ensure expected results
- Customer focused and drives for results
- Knowledgeable Microsoft Excel, Power Point, Word
