    Description

Ready to Lead Complex Inspections with Confidence?

If you’ve mastered tight-tolerance inspection and want to be the go-to technical authority on the floor, this role is for you. We build precision parts for medical devices, aerospace, defense, space, and other high-stakes applications—where measurement rigor translates directly into real-world performance.

    What Will You Do?

    • Own first article, first piece, in-process, receiving, and final inspections for precision-machined and ground components.
    • Leverage advanced metrology: CMMs, vision systems, optical inspection, profilometers, roundness testers, micrometers, calipers, height and bore gages, pins/threads, gage blocks, and surface plates.
    • Apply GD&T to ASME Y14.5 across complex prints, customer drawings, and specs.
    • Validate parts from CNC milling/turning, Swiss, centerless and OD/ID grinding, EDM, and production machining.
    • Document results following Good Documentation Practices and our ISO 13485, AS9100, FDA, and internal QMS requirements.
    • Contribute to NCRs, MRB, root cause, CAPA/preventive actions, and continuous improvement.
    • Use data to guide capability (CpK/PpK), trends, and sound disposition decisions.
    • Collaborate with machinists, EDM operators, grinders, engineers, and production leadership to contain and eliminate defects at the source.
    • Mentor junior technicians and support audits, SOP refinement, inspection plan updates, and broader quality initiatives.

    Do You Bring These Strengths?

    • 5+ years in precision inspection, CMM, QC, or metrology.
    • Background in CNC, grinding, EDM, Swiss, aerospace, defense, medical device, or contract manufacturing.
    • Fluent in reading complex blueprints and applying GD&T.
    • Comfortable in regulated environments: ISO 13485:2016, AS9100, FDA 21 CFR Part 820, or ITAR.
    • Disciplined documentation and traceability.
    • Clear communicator with operators, engineers, and leaders.
    • Problem-solver who looks beyond go/no-go.
    • Quick to learn new equipment, methods, and customer-specific needs.

    Nice-to-Haves

    • CMM programming (Zeiss Calypso).
    • Keyence IM Series or OGP video inspection.
    • Machining, grinding, EDM, or toolmaking experience.
    • Inspector training/mentoring background.
    • FAI, PPAP, control plans, SOP updates, internal audits, NCR/MRB, CAPA, root cause.
    • Experience in medical device, aerospace, defense, or space parts.

    Physical Requirements

    • On your feet most of the day; regular walking.
    • Frequent hands-on work with instruments, tools, and controls.
    • Routine handling of small, precise components and tooling.
    • High visual acuity for prints, HMI displays, and metrology readouts; distinguish fine variation.
    • Read/interpret instructions, blueprints, setup sheets, inspection reports, and digital records.
    • Periodic bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching.
    • Lift/carry/push/pull up to 25 lbs frequently and 50 lbs occasionally, with or without help.
    • Use hoists and other lifting devices safely.
    • Work near moving equipment, cutting tools, chips, coolants, and lubricants.
    • Operate with PPE in moderate manufacturing noise.
    • Consistent attendance and willingness for overtime when production needs it.

    ITAR Requirement

KMM is an ITAR-registered facility. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or have a valid Green Card.

    Culture: Quality Is Built-In
