Sr. Cloud Systems Engineer

Position Summary
We are looking for a hands-on Cloud Systems Engineer to support an enterprise data platform hosted in AWS GovCloud.
The engineer will work with cloud, security, application, and platform teams to build and maintain AWS infrastructure, automate deployments, monitor environments, troubleshoot issues, and support secure cloud operations.
Key Responsibilities
Provision and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure.
Support AWS services including:
VPC
EC2
S3
IAM
EKS
CloudWatch
CloudTrail
AWS Systems Manager
Configure VPCs, subnets, routing, security groups, and cloud connectivity.
Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and/or CloudFormation.
Support and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
Manage infrastructure code using Git-based repositories, preferably GitLab.
Support containerized workloads running on Amazon EKS/Kubernetes.
Monitor cloud environments using CloudWatch logs, metrics, alarms, and dashboards.
Troubleshoot infrastructure, deployment, networking, connectivity, and IAM issues.
Support cloud security, logging, encryption, and access-control requirements.
Assist with AWS infrastructure upgrades and configuration changes.
Build development, sandbox, test, and proof-of-concept environments.
Automate routine cloud administration using scripting, APIs, and command-line tools.
Support AWS cost optimization and identify unused resources.
Maintain technical documentation, runbooks, architecture diagrams, and troubleshooting procedures.
Participate in incident troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
Support capacity planning, scaling, and performance monitoring.
Provision infrastructure and permissions for new applications and development teams.
Required Skills
Good working knowledge of AWS.
Experience or understanding of:
VPC
EC2
S3
IAM
EKS
CloudWatch
CloudTrail
Understanding of AWS networking concepts.
Knowledge of IAM roles, policies, permissions, and least-privilege access.
Understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
Experience or familiarity with CloudFormation.
Experience with GitLab, GitHub, or Bitbucket.
Understanding of CI/CD concepts and deployment pipelines.
Experience troubleshooting cloud infrastructure and reviewing logs.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred Skills
Hands-on experience with Terraform.
Experience developing or maintaining GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
Knowledge of Kubernetes and Amazon EKS.
Understanding of cloud security, encryption, secrets management, and secure access.
Experience supporting AWS GovCloud environments.
AWS certification is a plus:
