    Description

    Role Summary / Purpose

This role coordinates the installation, integration, operation, and ongoing support of engineering applications within a government Azure environment. The role initially focuses on onboarding CAE applications including virtual-desktop-installed software and license-server infrastructure and over time helps evolve individual application deployments into an integrated engineering application environment supporting the broader business. The resource works across Engineering Enterprise Technology, ISI application vendors, and other professional service providers to ensure applications and infrastructure are securely deployed, appropriately licensed, and operationally supported.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Gather and document application requirements, binaries, infrastructure dependencies, user populations, licensing models, authentication, installation sequencing, and coordinate with ISI to install and configure CAE applications in Windows 365 / Azure Virtual Desktop environments.
    • Identify applications requiring additional infrastructure, license servers, databases, integrations, HPC, specialized VM configurations, and support testing, user validation, and transition to steady-state operations.
    • Participate in application and solution architecture reviews, support integration planning between CAE tools, requirements-management platforms, and data-transfer capabilities; document current- and target-state architectures, dependencies, and operational ownership.
    • Maintain inventory of Microsoft and Azure Government license types, SKUs, assigned quantities, available capacity, and forecasted demand; monitor license consumption and proactively initiate requests before capacity is exhausted.
    • Reconcile Azure Government charges to subscriptions, applications, environments, and users; prepare recurring cost reports and billing extracts; investigate unexpected usage, cost variances, and consumption trends with cloud billing, finance, and ISI teams.
    • Maintain current cost forecasts as applications, infrastructure, licenses, and user populations change.

    Requirements - Education & Experience

    • Bachelor''s degree in mechanical, electrical, computer, or software engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
    • 7 years of experience installing and supporting CAE tools (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink, ANSA, LS-DYNA, LS-PREPOST).
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Azure infrastructure and operations including virtual machines, storage, identity, monitoring, backup, and cost management.
    • Experience supporting Windows-based virtual desktop applications (e.g., Azure Virtual Desktop, Windows 365, or comparable hosted desktop environments).
    • Understanding of floating or concurrent software licensing models and license server technologies.
    • Experience managing application licenses, SKUs, capacity, renewals, and usage reporting.
    • Ability to interpret vendor infrastructure and application requirements and translate them into implementable technical designs.
    • Must be a US Person (US citizen or permanent resident) working from the United States.

    Nice-to-Have / Preferred Skills

    • M.S. or Ph.D. in mechanical, electrical, computer, or software engineering or related field.
    • 7 years of experience installing and supporting CAE tools.
    • Experience with Azure Government GCC High or another regulated government cloud environment.
    • Hands-on experience with Azure Virtual Desktop or Windows 365.
    • Experience with cloud financial management, consumption reporting, chargeback, or cost allocation.
    • Familiarity with security assessment, application onboarding, architecture-review, and change-management processes.
    • Experience supporting U.S. government or defense-related technology environments.
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously; systems-integration experience spanning interfaces, authentication/authorization, data flows, and application dependencies.
