Our client, a mid-sized enterprise software company based in Austin, Texas, is seeking a Cloud Solutions Architect to join their infrastructure and engineering organization. This role sits at the intersection of strategy and execution, working across business units to translate technical requirements into scalable, secure cloud environments. The team operates in a hybrid model, with employees based primarily in Austin.

The Cloud Solutions Architect will be responsible for designing and overseeing cloud architecture across AWS and Azure platforms, supporting both greenfield builds and migrations from legacy on-premises systems. Day-to-day responsibilities include collaborating with software engineering, security, and DevOps teams to define infrastructure standards, conduct architecture reviews, and guide implementation. The role carries direct ownership of cloud cost optimization and governance frameworks.

This position is well suited for someone with a strong foundation in cloud-native architecture and hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code. The company operates in a regulated industry environment, so familiarity with compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 or FedRAMP is a meaningful advantage. The team values engineers who can operate independently and communicate clearly with both technical and business audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement scalable, secure cloud architectures across AWS and Azure environments
  • Lead cloud migration initiatives from on-premises infrastructure to cloud-native solutions
  • Define and enforce cloud governance frameworks, tagging standards, and access control policies
  • Conduct architecture reviews and provide technical direction to engineering teams during project planning and implementation
  • Evaluate and recommend cloud services, third-party tools, and vendor solutions aligned with business objectives
  • Monitor cloud performance, reliability, and cost efficiency, implementing optimization strategies as needed
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date architecture documentation, diagrams, and roadmaps
  • Collaborate with security and compliance teams to ensure infrastructure meets regulatory requirements

Requirements

  • 5 or more years of experience in cloud architecture, solutions engineering, or a closely related infrastructure role
  • Hands-on proficiency with AWS or Azure; active certification (e.g., AWS Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert) strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Pulumi
  • Background designing and operating multi-cloud or hybrid cloud environments at enterprise scale
  • Working knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies including Docker and Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, NIST, or FedRAMP
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical architecture decisions to non-technical stakeholders
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary with annual performance-based review
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage effective day one
  • 401(k) plan with employer match up to 4 percent
  • Flexible hybrid work schedule with two days remote per week
  • 2,500 dollar annual stipend for professional development, training, and certifications
  • 20 days of paid time off plus 10 company holidays annually
  • Paid parental leave for all eligible employees
  • Employee stock option program with standard vesting schedule
