    Description

    Cloud Engineer - Remote, Washington, DC

    Duration: 12 months

    Seeking for an Cloud Engineer (GCP & Java) to design, develop, deploy, and support cloud-based applications and backend services. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Java, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), REST APIs, AI service integration, secure engineering practices, Git, and CI/CD.

    This role will collaborate closely with Engineering, QA, DevOps, Product, and Security teams to deliver reliable, scalable, secure, and maintainable cloud solutions.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Design, develop, test, and maintain backend applications and services using Java.
    • Develop and deploy applications and services on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or comparable cloud platforms.
    • Design and implement RESTful APIs and service integrations.
    • Implement API authentication and authorization using appropriate security patterns.
    • Integrate AI APIs and services into applications for capabilities such as summarization, extraction, classification, and decision support.
    • Apply secure engineering practices, including least privilege, secrets management, encryption, and audit logging.
    • Participate in Git-based development workflows, including branching, pull requests, and code reviews.
    • Support application builds, testing, deployment, and releases through CI/CD pipelines.
    • Troubleshoot application and cloud issues, perform defect triage, and support root-cause analysis.
    • Use logging, monitoring, metrics, and other observability tools to identify and resolve application issues.
    • Support production applications and participate in incident resolution and corrective-action activities.
    • Collaborate with Engineering, QA, DevOps, Product, and Security stakeholders throughout the SDLC.
    • Participate in Agile ceremonies and continuous improvement activities.
    • Maintain clear technical documentation for application functionality, configurations, integrations, and operational procedures.

    Required Qualifications

    • 3–5 years of software development experience or equivalent demonstrated technical capability.
    • 3–5 years of experience developing Java-based backend applications or services.
    • Hands-on experience working with GCP or equivalent cloud technologies.
    • Experience deploying and supporting applications in cloud environments.
    • Strong experience designing and implementing REST APIs.
    • Knowledge of authentication, authorization, and common application integration patterns.
    • Experience integrating AI capabilities, APIs, or services into applications.
    • Practical knowledge of secure engineering principles, including:
      • Least-privilege access
      • Secrets management
      • Encryption
      • Audit logging
    • Proficiency with Git-based development workflows.
    • Working knowledge of CI/CD concepts and release practices.
    • Strong troubleshooting and defect-triage skills.
    • Experience with performance tuning and application observability.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively across technical and business teams.
