Cloud Database Engineer

In this role, you will lead the modernization of an existing SQL-based database environment into a scalable Azure cloud data platform, driving architecture decisions and guiding a migration to Snowflake. IDR is seeking a Cloud Database Engineer to join one of our top clients for an opportunity in Austin, TX. In this role, you will lead the modernization of an existing SQL-based database environment into a scalable Azure cloud data platform, driving architecture decisions and guiding a migration to Snowflake. Position Overview for the Cloud Database Engineer:

• Serve as a senior cloud data/database architect modernizing an existing SQL environment into an Azure-based cloud data platform
• Assess the current database landscape and determine what should remain in Azure SQL versus migrate to Snowflake
• Design the target-state Azure/Snowflake architecture and create a practical migration roadmap
• Lead or coordinate end-to-end migration activities, troubleshooting complex issues and providing technical direction to engineering teams
• Establish cloud database architecture standards and collaborate with security/compliance stakeholders on governance and best practices

Requirements for the Cloud Database Engineer:

• 10+ years of experience in Azure cloud and database architecture
• Proven experience leading or building roadmaps for a Snowflake architecture migration
• Strong proficiency with SQL, SQL clusters, and Azure SQL instances within the broader Azure ecosystem
• Hands-on experience with cloud data migration planning and target-state architecture design
• Experience with Azure database security, compliance, and governance practices
