Cloud Database Administrator

The ideal candidate has in-depth experience with cloud based relational database such as AWS RDS or Azure SQL as well as work supporting planning activities. Manage and optimize AWS RDS and Azure SQL databases per client requirements, optimizing performance and tuning SQL queries to support data solutions.

Hansen Talent Group is seeking a Database Admin with strong experience supporting and monitoring cloud-native environments. The ideal candidate has in-depth experience with cloud based relational database such as AWS RDS or Azure SQL as well as work supporting planning activities. 

The Cloud Database Admin will be responsible for managing cloud-based data solutions and supporting daily database operations and maintenance. 

Duties:

• Partner with stakeholders, platform engineers, SMEs, and business system analysts to define business requirements and technical specifications for all data solutions hosted in cloud environments. 
• Provide technical insight and direction into the direction of database architecture, configuration, and security to best support client needs. 
• Manage and optimize AWS RDS and Azure SQL databases per client requirements, optimizing performance and tuning SQL queries to support data solutions. 
• Utilize CloudWatch and Azure Monitor to track DB performance, identify bottlenecks, and manage availability. Provide recommendations on improving DB activities and configurations. 
• Participate in disaster recovery planning and DR activities.
• Automate tasks by creating scripts using PowerShell, BASH, and Python. 
• Provide updates to stakeholders on current status of DB operations

Qualifications:

• In-depth experience supporting cloud-native data solutions and relational cloud database environments 
• Cloudwatch or similar cloud-native monitoring tool
• heavy SQL experience
