    Cloud Architect

    Position Overview

    We are seeking an experienced and strategic Cloud Architect to design, implement, and oversee enterprise cloud architectures that support scalable, secure, and high-performance applications and infrastructure. This role is responsible for defining cloud strategy, architecting multi-cloud environments, and ensuring alignment between business objectives and technical solutions.

    The ideal candidate has deep expertise in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, and/or GCP), infrastructure architecture, networking, security, DevOps, and enterprise system design. They will work closely with Engineering, DevOps, Security, Data, and Business stakeholders to build resilient, cost-efficient, and future-ready cloud ecosystems.

    Location Requirement

    To support collaboration with engineering, infrastructure, and leadership teams, candidates must currently reside in one of the following metropolitan areas in the United States:

    • Nashville

    • Charlotte

    • Phoenix

    Candidates outside of these locations will not be considered.

    Key Responsibilities

    Cloud Architecture Design

    • Design scalable, secure, and highly available cloud architectures across AWS, Azure, and/or GCP

    • Define enterprise cloud strategy, standards, and best practices

    • Architect multi-cloud and hybrid-cloud environments

    • Develop reference architectures, blueprints, and solution designs

    • Ensure alignment of cloud architecture with business and technical requirements

    • Evaluate and select cloud services and technologies for optimal performance and cost efficiency

    Infrastructure & Platform Engineering

    • Design cloud infrastructure including compute, storage, networking, and databases

    • Architect containerized and serverless computing solutions

    • Define infrastructure as code (IaC) standards using tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or ARM templates

    • Ensure high availability, scalability, resilience, and disaster recovery

    • Optimize infrastructure performance and resource utilization

    • Support platform engineering and cloud landing zone design

    Security, Compliance & Governance

    • Design secure cloud architectures aligned with industry standards and frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001, NIST, PCI-DSS, HIPAA)

    • Collaborate with Security teams to implement Zero Trust and IAM strategies

    • Define encryption, key management, and data protection strategies

    • Ensure compliance with regulatory and organizational requirements

    • Support cloud governance, policy enforcement, and audit readiness

    • Conduct architectural risk assessments and security reviews

    DevOps & Automation Strategy

    • Design CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native deployment strategies

    • Integrate DevOps and DevSecOps best practices into cloud architecture

    • Automate infrastructure provisioning, scaling, and monitoring

    • Enable observability using logging, monitoring, and tracing tools

    • Support release engineering and continuous delivery frameworks

    • Improve operational efficiency through automation and standardization

    Performance, Cost Optimization & Reliability

    • Optimize cloud costs through rightsizing, scaling strategies, and resource management

    • Design for high availability, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery

    • Monitor system performance and recommend architectural improvements

    • Establish SLAs, SLOs, and reliability engineering practices

    • Support capacity planning and performance forecasting

    • Continuously improve cloud efficiency and sustainability

    Enterprise Integration & Data Architecture

    • Architect integrations between cloud platforms and enterprise systems (CRM, ERP, ATS, data warehouses)

    • Design API-driven and microservices-based architectures

    • Support data architecture strategies for analytics and AI workloads

    • Enable secure and efficient data flow across systems

    • Collaborate with Data Engineers and AI teams on scalable data platforms

    • Ensure interoperability across distributed systems

    Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement

    • Partner with executives, product teams, engineering, and operations stakeholders

    • Translate business requirements into cloud architecture solutions

    • Lead architecture reviews, technical workshops, and design sessions

    • Provide mentorship and guidance to engineering teams

    • Support vendor evaluations and technology selection decisions

    • Contribute to enterprise IT strategy and digital transformation initiatives

    Qualifications

    Required

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field

    • 7+ years of experience in cloud engineering, infrastructure architecture, or enterprise architecture roles

    • 3+ years of experience as a Cloud Architect or equivalent senior architecture role

    • Strong expertise in AWS, Azure, and/or GCP services and architecture

    • Deep understanding of networking, distributed systems, and infrastructure design

    • Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless architectures

    • Strong knowledge of IAM, security architecture, and compliance frameworks

    • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, or equivalent)

    • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

    • Must currently reside in one of the approved locations listed above

    Preferred (Nice-to-Have)

    • Cloud certifications such as:
      • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional

      • Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert

      • Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect

    • Experience with multi-cloud and hybrid-cloud strategies

    • Knowledge of DevSecOps, SRE, and platform engineering practices

    • Familiarity with observability tools (Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack)

    • Experience with microservices and event-driven architectures

    • Knowledge of data platforms, AI/ML infrastructure, or analytics systems

    • Experience in regulated industries such as finance, healthcare, insurance, or enterprise SaaS

    • Consulting or client-facing architecture experience
