Purpose of Position: The Clinical Support RN is a highly skilled and experienced registered nurse who provides direct patient care and clinical support throughout the hospital. This role centers on mentoring and supporting novice RNs during their transition into practice, in addition to delivering clinical support across all Med-Surg staff. The Clinical Support RN acts as a resource, role model, and coach, rounding on all Med-Surg units to promote evidence-based practice, critical thinking, and confidence among newer nurses. This role also supports quality patient outcomes and reinforces adherence to hospital policies and nursing standards, while maintaining the highest level of customer service.

:
Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family members, visitors, volunteers and co-workers.
Rounds on all Med-Surg patient care areas, assisting as needed and offering clinical expertise, coaching, and just-in-time teaching, to novice RNs and other Med Surg staff.
Provides safe, high-quality, and age-appropriate care in all assigned areas, deploying to various units as needed by the Nursing Supervisor.
Provides guidance and support to less experienced nursing staff, fostering clinical competence, confidence, and professional development.
Promotes the effective use of the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) in patient care, and ensures proper documentation aligned with Nursing PI activities.
Assist with patient assessments throughout the hospital admission, including physical, psychological, social, and discharge planning dimensions, and communicates findings with the interdisciplinary team.
In conjunction with the primary RN, Administers and monitors the effects of medications and responds to changes in patient condition promptly and effectively.
Supports staff by transporting and assisting patients in radiology and other ancillary departments.
Maintains proficiency in nursing informatics systems and ensures accurate, timely electronic documentation in collaboration with the primary RN.
Collaborates with Nursing Education to stay informed of new initiatives, acting as a unit-level resource for education rollouts and best practices.
Models service excellence and maintains professionalism when interacting with patients, families, staff, and the community.
Adheres to infection control and hospital safety protocols including those related to blood and body fluid exposure.
Performs other related duties as assigned by the Nursing Supervisor to support departmental operations and patient care
