    Description

    The Clinical Support, Radiologic Technologist is responsible for providing high-quality patient focused care through supporting ESRHS's mission with the operation of x-ray equipment and effective capture of radiographic images, transfer of images, and timely receipt of results while ensuring patient safety. Assists with patient notification of results.

    • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
    • Must be a licensed in the state of Virginia as a Radiologic Technologist or have radiological training in a hospital under the supervision of a board-certified radiologist for a minimum of 1 year and eligible for a licensure in the state of Virginia.
    • Must have satisfactorily completed Radiological Technology training in an approved school with the ability to meet the requirements for registry by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists.
    • Must have good spatial perception to visualize inner structure of human body in relation to x-ray tube and manual dexterity to adjust machine controls, arrange, attach and adjust support devices.
    • Must be energetic, flexible and self-motivated with strong attention to detail, communication, teamwork, and computer skills.
    • Must complete and maintain all recertification requirements for continued licensure and/ or certification and retain updated copies as applicable.
    • Must maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for all life cycles.
    • Provide coverage at other centers on short notice when needed.
    • Must demonstrate excellent internal and external customer service skills.
    • Certification as an Interpreter is preferred and ability to provide bilingual patient care is a plus.
    • Effectively operate x-ray equipment to make radiographs of designated portions of the body as ordered by center and adjust x-ray equipment settings to include voltage current and desired exposure time.
    • Arrange, attach or adjust immobilization and supportive devices to obtain the precise position, prevent patients from moving, ensure safety and lessen discomfort.
    • Adjust lead shield over patient to protect unaffected parts of the body from exposure to x-ray.
    • Perform x-ray log reconciliation daily to ensure receipt of all x-rays from contract provider(s).
    • Clean and make minor adjustments to equipment. Notify Clinical Support, Center Nurse Manager of needed repairs and maintenance of x-ray equipment. Maintain a clean and orderly work environment and properly equip and stock patient care areas. Keep X-ray rooms stocked and tidy.
    • Copy or burn CD request of x-rays and reports as indicated.
    • Accurately perform and document technical procedures when assigned such as taking EKG's, drawing blood, obtaining and preparing laboratory specimens and where appropriate, taking x-rays and preparing lab slips.
    • Take telephone messages and provide feedback to patients/ providers/ pharmacy calls and document in electronic medical record.
    • Perform diabetic retinal screenings.
    • Maintain accurate, pertinent, legible patient records with all notes completed in a timely manner as determined by organizational standards.
    1. Receive and relay accurate information between patient and provider - provider to patient; communicate and document accurate information with regard to referrals, patient information, and scheduling.

      • Upon mastery of the Clinical Skills Competencies and as assigned to Express Care, perform clinical intake as listed in the standardized patient intake procedure to include measuring vital signs, documentation in the electronic health record and initiating standing orders as indicated.
      • Adhere to scope of practice requirements and ensure confirmation of clinical skill performance by licensed or certified staff where applicable.
      • Attend and participate in all clinical in-service programs, as required.
      • Other duties and tasks as assigned by Clinical Support, Center Nurse Manager.
