Clinical Social Worker I

Early Childhood Development & Education Center (EDEC)Kennedy Krieger Institute | Baltimore, MDOnsite Position

Kennedy Krieger Institute is seeking an experienced LCSW-C to provide trauma-informed clinical services to young children and families within our Early Childhood Development & Education Center (EDEC). This role combines direct family support, classroom consultation, and interdisciplinary collaboration to help children with developmental, behavioral, and emotional needs thrive.

Because of the specialized nature of this role, candidates should bring a solid foundation in pediatric behavioral health, family systems, trauma-informed practice, or early childhood mental health. Experience supporting children with developmental disabilities and their families is highly valued.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Conduct psychosocial assessments and provide family-centered interventions.
  • Support children and families impacted by developmental disabilities, trauma, and social determinants of health.
  • Provide classroom consultation related to challenging behaviors, separation anxiety, family engagement, and trauma-informed practices.
  • Strengthen caregiver-child relationships using the Circle of Security model.
  • Connect families with community resources and support services.
  • Maintain timely and compliant clinical documentation.
  • Support children and families enrolled in a in a Maryland Blueprint PreK3 and PreK4 program.

 

Training & Support

 

Kennedy Krieger provides specialized training in:

  • Facilitating Attuned Interactions (FAN)
  • Circle of Security
  • Trauma-informed care and early childhood mental health

The position includes ongoing clinical supervision and interdisciplinary consultation. However, clinicians are expected to independently manage a caseload, make sound clinical decisions, provide consultations, and engage families with limited day-to-day oversight. This role is best suited for an experienced therapist with strong assessment, intervention, and family engagement skills.

 

Qualifications

 

Required

  • Maryland LCSW-C
  • Master's Degree in Social Work from an accredited school.
  • CPR Certification
  • Minimum two years of clinical social work experience, including work with children and families

Preferred

  • Early childhood mental health experience
  • Experience serving children ages 3-5
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed and attachment-based interventions

USD $78,094.00/Yr.

Maximum pay range

USD $100,672.00/Yr.
