    Position Summary

    Provides direct psychological, social, and practical support to a designated caseload of patients and families. Responsibilities include conducting social work assessments, identifying needs, establishing goals, and implementing care plans. The role also involves making referrals to outside agencies and coordinating continuity of care.

    Works collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to support optimal patient outcomes and contributes to the achievement of organizational goals. Coverage for absences, vacancies, and on-call responsibilities will be required.

    Competencies

    Education

    • Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from an accredited school of social work

    Knowledge

    • Understanding of the biopsychosocial and cultural factors involved in clinical social work practice
    • Knowledge of social work procedures, systems, and organizational objectives
    • Strong knowledge of community resources
    • Familiarity with the current health care environment
    • Ability to gather, analyze, synthesize, and summarize relevant information to support patient care decisions

    Skills

    • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with hospital staff, agency health care professionals, patients, and families
    • Strong clinical skills in delivering social work services in a mental health or health care setting
    • Analytical ability to assess patient needs, develop treatment plans, and provide effective interventions
    • Ability to identify organizational barriers and recommend improvements to enhance patient care

    Required Licensure/Certification

    • Must be licensed by the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners at the LCSW-C level

    Exceptions:

    Applicants may be considered if they:

    • Are licensed to practice social work in another state or hold comparable social work qualifications in another jurisdiction, and
    • Meet the requirements established by the Board in regulations, and
    • Have an application for licensure pending before the Board, or
    • Have successfully passed the examination(s) required by the Board for the license sought

    Work Experience

    • One year of experience providing clinical social work services, preferably in a mental health or health care setting; internship experience may be considered

    Salary Range: Minimum 34.62/hour - Maximum 57.19/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
