Clinical Placement Coordinator

DESCRIPTION OF JOB:

The Clinical Placement Coordinator is responsible for securing, maintaining, and evaluating clinical placements to ensure compliance with program, state, and accreditation requirements. Particular foci of this position is securing approvals from State Boards of Nursing to offer Edgewood online Undergraduate and Graduate Nursing as well as obtaining and maintaining non-Wisconsin clinical partnerships.

This position reports directly to the Associate Dean of Nursing.

Responsibilities:

State Board of Nursing Approval and Clinical Site Procurement/Management

  • Coordinate with School of Nursing Deans, Program Directors, and Clinical Placement Team to secure State Board of Nursing approvals.
  • Serve as Henry Predolin College of Health Sciences manager of it State Authorization Network (SAN) and WCET-WICHE Cooperative for Educational Technologies memberships.
  • Coordinate with School of Nursing Deans, Program Directors, and Clinical Placement Team to establish and maintain partnerships with clinical agencies that provide appropriate teaching-learning experiences for undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Initiate contact and meet with hospital and community personnel to establish new clinical placements, primarily for out-of-state sites.
  • Collaborate with community partners to develop and maintain long-term relationships that support clinical education.
  • Maintain current affiliation agreements and initiate new contracts with all clinical agencies, including obtaining and maintaining out-of-state clinical approvals.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Compliance Officer, Clinical Coordinators, Program Directors, and Deans regarding academic planning related to clinical resources (faculty, staff, and agency) for undergraduate and graduate programs.
  • Evaluate the adequacy of clinical sites to ensure alignment with program outcomes and accreditation standards.

Clinical Site Compliance

  • Coordinate with the Chief Compliance Officer to ensure student and faculty compliance with agency onboarding policies for both undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Compliance Officer to notify clinical agencies of faculty and student placements each semester and verify compliance with agency and institutional requirements.
  • Remain current regarding agency compliance standards for student placements and serve as a resource for students and faculty.
  • Stay informed on national standards and CDC guidelines regarding immunization and health documentation policies.
  • For graduate students, manage student files and documentation related to preceptor agreements and site approvals.
  • Assist in orienting newly assigned faculty to clinical sites, in collaboration with department chairs and site personnel.
  • Distribute, collect, and analyze clinical-related surveys.
  • Assist School of Nursing Deans in clinical-related accreditation activities.

Faculty/Staff/Agency Liaison

  • Serves as a resource for faculty regarding student placement at clinical agencies.
  • Serves as a resource for students seeking non-Wisconsin licensure; including translation/validation of educational records required for non-Wisconsin licensure.
  • Implements clinical selection process each semester, including posting site description options, assignment of clinical sections in collaboration with department heads, and finalizing and posting clinical assignments.
  • Communicates clinical changes, concerns, and issues regarding the programs to School of Nursing Deans, Program Directors, and Department Heads.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Necessary Education or Work Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher; preferred in Nursing or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years related administrative/management experience

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Working knowledge/familiarity of HIPPA regulations
  • Working knowledge/familiarity of HIPPA regulations
  • National Standards and CDC guidelines regarding immunization
  • Evidence of effective problem-solving skills
  • Evidence of consistently meeting deadlines
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Management/leadership skills

Specialized Technology Skills:

  • Overall proficient skill-level in Microsoft 365 functions
