Accountable for establishing strong professional relationships with executive leadership, market presidents, chief clinical officers, physician and administrative institute leaders, physicians, pharmacy, and nursing across the market to deliver patient care, coordinate transitions of care, and communicate and interpret Novant Health and departmental mission, goals, and objectives across all areas of responsibility. This leader will join a vibrant leadership team focused on delivering excellent patient care while leading a spectrum of specialties, including Hospital Medicine (Hospitalists), Infectious Disease, and Hospice and Palliative Care, across six acute care facilities in the Charlotte Region.

Novant Health Hospital Based Medicine Institute is recruiting a Physician Executive Market Leader for the Charlotte Region. The preferred candidate for this position is an experienced physician with strong leadership experience, vision, and exceptional relationship-building skills. This leader will join a vibrant leadership team focused on delivering excellent patient care while leading a spectrum of specialties, including Hospital Medicine (Hospitalists), Infectious Disease, and Hospice and Palliative Care, across six acute care facilities in the Charlotte Region.

With continued growth across the Charlotte region, including the development and expansion of new facilities and care delivery sites, this leader will play a key role in strategically scaling Hospital-Based Medicine services to meet the evolving needs of our patients and communities.

This leader will be responsible for providing direct supervision to the medical directors of these specialties and will have oversight of approximately 80 physicians and 50 APPs. This position is expected to have a 0.7 administrative footprint and a 0.3 clinical footprint.

The Physician Market Executive will provide clinical leadership for the Novant Health Hospital Based Medicine (HBM) Institute in the Charlotte Region.

• Responsible for the strategic growth, operational excellence, and clinical advancement of the specialties embedded within the Hospital-Based Medicine Institute across all six Novant Health hospitals in the Charlotte Region, while supporting future regional growth and expansion into new facilities and care settings.
• Drive, lead, and plan efforts in partnership with the System Physician and System Administrative Executive to establish strategic plans, budgets, resource allocation, operational plans, and policies for Hospital-Based Medicine.
• Accountable for planning, directing, and coordinating all Hospital-Based Medicine initiatives to achieve key performance indicators for high-quality patient services, operational excellence, and cost effectiveness, while leading efforts to support system and regional network development.
• Responsible for the continued integration, advancement, and optimization of virtual care models to enhance access, support seamless care delivery, and meet the evolving needs of patients across the Charlotte Region.
• Provide strategic clinical leadership and operational oversight to support the continued growth of the Charlotte Region, including the planning and integration of Hospital-Based Medicine services within new and expanding facilities and care delivery sites.
• Accountable for establishing strong professional relationships with executive leadership, market presidents, chief clinical officers, physician and administrative institute leaders, physicians, pharmacy, and nursing across the market to deliver patient care, coordinate transitions of care, and communicate and interpret Novant Health and departmental mission, goals, and objectives across all areas of responsibility.

Qualifications:

Education: Medical doctor required.

Experience: Five (5) years of minimum progressive leadership experience and current clinical knowledge and skill as a hospital-based physician leader. Experience as a Medical Director and/or Department Chair is strongly preferred.

Licensure/Certification: Current medical license in North Carolina required.
