    Job Description

    Under the supervision of the Clinical Manager, provides consultive services to medical, nursing and pharmacy staff. Ensures appropriate drug therapy in specialty population, implementing and monitoring clinical protocols and guidelines and enhancing the delivery of evidence-based medicine will also be expected. Other responsibilities include education, representation on medical center committees, and collaboration on research initiatives. Documents clinical activities and outcomes. Provides prescribed medications and compounds according to professional standards and practices. Performs at an advanced skills level.

    Education

    PharmD degree required

    Experience

    2-3 years of experience in a clinical pharmacy setting is required

    Pharmacy Practice Residency or PGY1 preferred


    Specialty Residency in field of expertise PGY2 OR Minimum experience of 3-5 years in a relevant clinical pharmacy setting (Other combinations of formal education, training, and experience may be considered.)


    Experience with computerized pharmacy systems preferred

    Certification & Licensure

    Virginia licensed or eligible for reciprocity is required

    Board certification or equivalent specialty certification within 2 years

    Current and up-to-date licensure and certification. Maintains full credentialing

    BLS Certification (Basic Life Support) - American Heart ‘Healthcare Provider’ (HCP) - AHA approved is required. * New hires must have American Heart Association (AHA) appropriate certification prior to completion of orientation.

    Qualifications

    Must be knowledgeable about medications, their pharmacology and dosage ranges for use in neonatal, pediatrics, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients


    Keyboarding skills required
