A Clinical Pharmacist opportunity is available at a 285+ bed Level II Trauma Center in Independence, MO — a facility that also holds designation as an accredited Chest Pain Center, accredited Cancer Program and Breast Center, Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and Stroke Center. Day-to-day, this pharmacist interprets and transcribes medication orders, accurately compounds and dispenses pharmaceuticals, and monitors drug therapy regimens for contraindications, drug-drug interactions, drug-food interactions, allergies, and appropriateness of drug and dose.

The role. The Clinical Pharmacist provides comprehensive pharmaceutical services for hospital inpatients, with the pharmacy's core mission centered on promoting safe and effective medication therapy and providing oversight of the medication use system. Day-to-day, this pharmacist interprets and transcribes medication orders, accurately compounds and dispenses pharmaceuticals, and monitors drug therapy regimens for contraindications, drug-drug interactions, drug-food interactions, allergies, and appropriateness of drug and dose. The pharmacist also supports the hospital formulary by minimizing non-formulary procurements, utilizing therapeutic interchanges, and promoting rational drug therapy selection, while suggesting cost-effective therapeutic medication alternatives to medical staff. Clinical service responsibilities include drug consults, nutrition support, pharmacokinetics, anticoagulant monitoring, pain management, IV to PO conversion, and renal dosing, alongside completion of notification reports for medication errors and adverse drug reactions.

What we're looking for.

• B.S. or PharmD from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy; a Doctor of Pharmacy from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy is preferred
• Active pharmacist license in good standing with the appropriate State Board of Pharmacy
• Hospital pharmacy experience preferred; new graduates and candidates with retail pharmacy experience will be considered
• Completion of hospital PGY1 / pharmacy general practice residency or fellowship highly preferred
• Specialty BCPS certification preferred

Schedule. Days with rotating weekends, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM; occasional evenings required, with every 4th weekend shift.
