GENERAL SUMMARY: The Pharmacy Manager reports to Director of Pharmacy and works closely with the managers and staff in other areas of the department. The manager is responsible for planning, implementing and managing patient care related pharmacy services. The manager provides leadership for professional staff and provides overall assurance that pharmaceutical services meet patient care needs and are as economical as possible.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Must have obtained an advanced degree (Pharm.D. or equivalent), completed a residency program approved by the American Society of Hospital Pharmacists, a fellowship in pharmacy, or have demonstrated a similar level of achievement in the practice of pharmacy. Must demonstrate leadership ability in working with and coordinating activities of others in developing improved pharmacy services. Must demonstrate verbal and written communication skills which enable manager to contribute effectively in the dissemination of information to all levels of health care personnel in the institution. The manager should likewise demonstrate a desire to contribute to the pharmaceutical literature. Must demonstrate knowledge of progressive pharmacy practice. Must have a previous work history of reliability, dependability, and a willingness to assume additional responsibility. Must be able to work with pharmacy students at all levels. Should have completed research which demonstrates originality and investigative ability in an area of administrative and/or clinical pharmacy practice. The work should be suitable for publication in the pharmaceutical or medical literature.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED: Must be licensed to practice pharmacy in the State of Michigan. Should be Board Certified in the area of specialty practice.
