Position Summary The Clinical Nurse provides safe, patient-centered nursing care in an ambulatory setting. This role performs routine assessments, supports clinical procedures, assists with care coordination, and reinforces patient education while contributing to a collaborative, team-based care environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned. Clinical Assessment & Planning Perform holistic nursing assessments that consider physical, psychosocial, cultural, and environmental factors. Identify nursing problems, establish measurable patient goals, and develop individualized plans of care. Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to implement and revise care plans as needed. Evaluate and document patient progress, modifying interventions to support optimal outcomes. Patient Care & Clinical Support Provide direct nursing care, including patient intake, history collection, and assessment of visit reasons. Assist physicians and advanced practice providers with clinical procedures and treatments. Reinforce patient and family education related to conditions, treatment plans, medications, and self-management. Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all assessments, interventions, and patient interactions. Care Coordination & Telephone Triage Provide evidence-based guidance to patients via telephone and in person, assessing needs and determining appropriate next steps. Prioritize calls based on acuity; make appointments, route messages, and coordinate referrals as appropriate. Partner with support staff to resolve patient concerns and maintain smooth clinic flow. Professional Practice & Accountability Demonstrate sound clinical judgment and adherence to professional, ethical, and legal standards. Maintain accountability for nursing care delivered and for tasks delegated to other team members. Participate in quality improvement activities to enhance patient experience, safety, and workflow efficiency. Use current nursing research and evidence-based practice to inform clinical decision-making. Leadership, Collaboration & Development Serve as a role model for professional behavior, teamwork, and patient-centered care. Assist with precepting or orienting staff as assigned by the Nurse Manager. Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and multidisciplinary initiatives. Maintain clinical competence through continuing education, contact hours, and professional development. Minimum Qualifications Education Associate's degree in Nursing or higher from an accredited institution. Licensure/Certification Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington, DC, OR evidence of an active application with a valid out-of-state RN license. Experience A minimum of 2 years of relevant clinical experience is necessary, preferably in ambulatory or outpatient care environment. Physical Requirements Walk, bend, twist, and reach above the shoulder frequently in an office setting. Must be able to occasionally lift or carry and frequently push or pull up to 100 lbs. as part of the role Regularly exposed to healthcare settings that may require personal protective equipment Requires manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, calculator, copier machine, and other equipment.
