JOB DESCRIPTION:

PositionOverview

The Clinical Laboratory Trainer prepares and facilitates training for new hire and existing employee training in the clinical laboratory, with guided direction from training leadership. This role supports Abbott Cancer Diagnostics Laboratories through subject matter and training expertise to ensure all team members are trained properly and competencies are successfully met. This role assists in maintaining accurate data reporting practices to ensure a consistent and diligent capture of training and competency. In addition, this role is responsible for keeping employees of multiple levels up to date on processes and procedures through training and editing training materials/assessments/competencies to reflect current process. Lastly, thisrolecompletesmoderateand/orhighcomplexitycompetencies/end-user-proficiencyassessmentsforlearnersandfiletrainingdocumentationappropriately.Asneeded,thisroleprovideson-shifttraining.Thisroleactsasamentorforentry-leveltrainers.

Shift: Monday- Friday, 7:00am- 3:30pm CT

  • Assistsincreation,edit,andmaintenanceoftrainingandcompetencymaterials.

  • Maintainscompetencyinassignedtestprocesses,inaccordancewithregulatoryrequirements.

  • Performspre-analytic,analytical,and/orpost-analyticaltasks,inthelaboratories,asassigned.

  • Staysinformedanduptodateonnew/editedSOPs,assignments,andchangesinthelaboratoryprocessesinwhichtheytrain.

  • Participateinteamprojects,asassigned.

  • Evaluatestheeffectivenessoftrainingthroughsurveys,observations,andfeedback.

  • Maintainaccuraterecordsoftrainingandcompetency,inaccordancewithapplicablepoliciesandprocedures.

  • Collaborateswithothertrainerscross-functionally.

MinimumQualifications

  • Associates Degree in Business Administration,Education,Chemical,Physical,Biological,orClinicalLaboratoryScience,MedicalTechnology,orfieldrelatedtotheessentialdutiesofthejob;orHighSchoolDiploma/GeneralEducationDegree(GED)and2yearsofrelevantexperienceinlieuofAssociatesDegree.

  • 4+yearsofprofessionalexperiencerelatedtotheessentialdutiesoftheposition.

  • 1+yearsofclinicallaboratoryexperiencewithastrongunderstandingofworkinginalaboratorywithprofessionalworkingknowledgeofHIPAA,GLP,GDP,andlaboratoryterminologyandequipment.

  • Strongunderstandingofinstructor-led,virtual-led,technical,and/orhands-on/on-the-jobtraining.

  • ExcellentcomputerskillstoincludeInternetnavigation,useofvirtualmeetingtoolsandplatforms,emailusage,wordprocessing,anddata/recordsmanagement.

  • ProficientinMicrosoftOfficeprograms,suchasWord,Excel,PowerPoint,Outlook,orOneNote.

  • Demonstratedabilitytoperformtheessentialdutiesofthepositionwithorwithoutaccommodation.

  • AuthorizationtoworkintheUnitedStateswithoutsponsorship.

PreferredQualifications

  • 1+yearexperienceinamentorshiproleordirectly/indirectlyleadingothers.

  • QualifiedtocompletecompetencyassessmentperCLIAregulationsbymeetingoneofthefollowingcriteria:

    • Bachelor's Degree in a Chemical, Physical, Biological, Clinical Laboratory Science,orMedicalTechnologyfromanaccreditedinstitution,with2+yearsoflabexperience/lab-educationprogramexperienceinalabprovidingmoderateand/orhighcomplexitytestingor1+yearperforminghighcomplexitytesting.

    • AssociatesDegreeinaLaboratoryScienceorMedicalTechnology;orequivalenteducationandtraining(specifiedbelow)and2+yearslabexperience/lab-educationprogramexperienceinalabprovidinghighcomplexitytesting.

  • EquivalentEducationandTraining:

    • At least 60 semester hours,orequivalent,fromanaccreditedinstitutionthat,ataminimum,includesoneofthefollowingand3monthsdocumentedlaboratorytraining/educationand2+yearslabexperience/lab-educationprogramexperienceinalabprovidinghighcomplexitytesting:

      • 24semesterhoursofmedicallaboratorytechnologycourses;or

      • 24semesterhoursofsciencecoursesthatinclude:

The base pay for this position is

$22.45 – $44.85/hour
