About the Role
As a Blood Bank Technologist, you will perform complex testing procedures related to blood compatibility and transfusion support. The ideal candidate thrives in a detail-oriented environment and is committed to maintaining the highest standards of accuracy, quality, and patient safety.
Responsibilities
- Perform immunohematology testing, including blood typing, antibody screening, and compatibility testing
- Evaluate and interpret serologic results to support transfusion decisions
- Prepare, label, and issue blood products according to established guidelines
- Assist with the investigation of transfusion-related events and discrepancies
- Monitor quality control data and participate in quality improvement initiatives
- Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation
- Operate, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory analyzers and equipment
- Follow regulatory, accreditation, and safety requirements at all times
- Work collaboratively with laboratory staff and clinical teams to ensure timely patient care
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or related scientific discipline
- New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist License required
- Previous blood bank or transfusion medicine experience preferred
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities
