    Place of Work (City/State): Crownpoint, NM
    Site: Crownpoint Healthcare Facility (CHCF), Laboratory Department, Navajo Area HIS Location: Crownpoint Healthcare Facility, Crownpoint, NM 87313 Duration: 1 year contract with the possibility of another year extension Shift Schedule:
    • Facility operates 24/7, 365 days/year; CLS coverage required days, evenings, nights, weekends, and Federal holidays
    • Specific tour of duty/rotational shifts set by Laboratory Supervisor/COR
    Credentialing / Onboarding Time: 6-8 weeks Certifications: ASCP or AMT Education: Bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory science/medical technology Experience Needed: Minimum 5 years of experience as a technologist, demonstrating ability to independently perform/evaluate testing across chemistry, microbiology, hematology, immunology, urinalysis, blood banking, reference lab send-out Special Skills Needed:
    • Proficiency with laboratory information systems, EHR interfaces, analyzers, middleware, IHS IT systems
    • English proficiency (read/write/speak) sufficient for clinical documentation and coordination
    • Cultural sensitivity toward American Indian/Alaska Native populations
    Responsibilities:
    • Perform standardized and non-standardized clinical lab testing (chemistry, micro, hematology, immunology, urinalysis, blood banking, reference send-out)
    • Make minor procedure adaptations within competency; use professional judgment on non-standardized methods
    • Collect blood specimens via venipuncture/capillary puncture when assigned; instruct patients/staff on specimen collection/handling
    • Receive, assess, process, aliquot, store specimens; identify unacceptable/mislabeled specimens
    • Set up/operate analyzers and equipment; control critical testing conditions (temp, timing, calibration)
    • Prepare reagents, stains, media, controls; perform equipment maintenance, calibration checks, and recordkeeping
    • Interpret/evaluate results, recognize abnormal findings/analytical errors, troubleshoot and resolve deviations
    • Enter, verify, release, report results in authorized systems; maintain accurate/timely records and logs
    • Participate in quality management: QC, proficiency testing, quality improvement, method validation/development
    • Provide technical guidance/training to ancillary lab staff when assigned
    • Maintain continuing education and competency in medical technology
