Position Overview:

This is a non-licensed position designed to provide assistance to the Clinical Laboratory Scientist by performing certain procedures in the laboratory within limits specified by California Law. The duties include but not limited to: receiving and processing specimens, preparing sendouts, setting up microbiology cultures, performing instrument maintenance, and operating analyzers under the direction of the Clinical Laboratory Scientist. The Clinical Lab Technician must be able to perform EKG and phlebotomy (at least CPT I certified).

EDUCATION

  • Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.

  • Associate's: AA degree in science

  • Bachelor's: Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology or biochemistry

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE

  • CPTI-Certified Phlebotomy Technician I

  • CPTII-Certified Phlebotomy Technician II

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN:

  • Two years of working experience in a clinical laboratory or a commercial laboratory, including 6-month experience as a certified phlebotomist (CPT I).

  • Prior working experience as a laboratory technician.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Knowledge of Laboratory Information System

Pay Range is $39.04 to $48.73 / hour

The compensation range may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled. Total compensation considers multiple factors, including, but not limited to a candidate's experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs.
