    Job Summary

    Under the direction of the Medical Director and Administrative Leadership, responsible for the overall management and 24/7 operations of assigned clinical services. Oversees regulatory compliance, personnel management, technical operations, quality programs, financial performance, strategic planning, and business operations.


    Key Responsibilities

    Operations & Leadership

    • Direct the day-to-day operations of assigned departments and services.
    • Provide leadership and oversight to supervisors and technical staff, ensuring efficient workflow and service delivery.
    • Conduct regular meetings with leadership and operational personnel to review performance, priorities, and initiatives.
    • Represent the department in organizational committees, meetings, and cross-functional initiatives.
    • Perform all responsibilities inherent to a management role and other duties as assigned.

    Human Resources & Staff Development

    • Lead recruitment, hiring, scheduling, performance management, competency assessment, and disciplinary actions for staff.
    • Verify employee credentials, certifications, and educational requirements.
    • Maintain personnel records in accordance with organizational and regulatory standards.
    • Oversee onboarding, training, continuing education, and professional development programs.
    • Foster a safe, inclusive, and non-discriminatory workplace environment.

    Regulatory Compliance & Accreditation

    • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory, accreditation, and licensing requirements.
    • Maintain readiness for inspections, surveys, and audits.
    • Manage responses to regulatory findings and oversee corrective action plans.
    • Maintain current knowledge of regulatory standards and requirements.
    • Assist in preparing applications, submissions, and documentation for regulatory and accreditation agencies.

    Quality & Performance Improvement

    • Oversee quality assurance, quality control, proficiency testing, and equipment maintenance programs.
    • Investigate service complaints, delays, and operational issues; implement corrective actions and monitor outcomes.
    • Monitor and report quality metrics, operational statistics, and performance indicators.
    • Ensure all systems, processes, and procedures are validated before implementation.
    • Drive continuous process improvement initiatives to enhance service quality, efficiency, and patient outcomes.

    Policy, Procedure & Technical Oversight

    • Develop, implement, and maintain departmental policies and procedures.
    • Ensure technical, operational, administrative, and information system procedures are current and accurately documented.
    • Maintain records of policy revisions and historical documentation.
    • Evaluate and implement new technologies, equipment, methodologies, and operational processes in collaboration with leadership.

    Financial Management

    • Partner with leadership to develop annual operating and capital budgets.
    • Assist in the preparation of business plans and strategic initiatives.
    • Monitor departmental expenses, budget performance, and financial trends.
    • Review expenditures and invoices to ensure financial accuracy and accountability.
    • Manage payroll processes and oversee labor utilization, including overtime control.

    Strategic Planning

    • Contribute to the development and execution of departmental strategic plans.
    • Develop staffing, equipment, technology, and operational plans to support organizational objectives.
    • Advise leadership on growth opportunities, operational improvements, and resource allocation strategies.

    Qualifications

    Experience

    • Minimum of 5 years of management experience in a healthcare, clinical, or regulated environment required.
    • Experience with regulatory compliance, quality management, and operational leadership required.
    • Must have experience in the Molecular and Microbiology lab.

    Education

    • Bachelor of Science degree required.
    • Master's degree preferred.

    Licensure & Certifications

    • Current New York State professional licensure or certification, as applicable to the discipline, required.
    • Professional certification from a recognized accrediting organization preferred.
